You know what?
The Day After Tomorrow is a lot more scary when there's snow outside and there has just been a giant tsunami all over South Asia.
Still haven't finished the paintings I wanted to do for Christmas. Apologies all around.
Instead, I have been learning how to make Roman armour.
And apparently, thanks to the German postal service (who took a long time to bring me a package, and now seems to take a long time bringing it to Ireland) I'm afraid not even
ladylalaith is going to receive her present on time, and she's the only one to whom I send it before Christmas. Damnit. And I meant her to have it before she went to the States, that was the whole point. Alas, I failed.

When my boyfriend was 15, he thought it would be a cool idea to make himself Roman armour. Which he consquently did.
(It has survived until now; I wore it at Ring*Con...)
22 years later, my mom decided it would be a good idea to take one of my cousins, Ricardo, for the holidays, because his older brother, Alessio, always spends his holidays with my (and his) grandmother, and Ricardo envied him. So Ricardo is with my parents now, but my mother has to work. So she doesn't have much time for him. So she asked us whether we could do something interesting with Ricardo for a day or two.
And Jörg, being the idealist he is, said we could make armour for Ricardo.
Which my mom and Ricardo found great.
So, since Monday, Jörg has been working on that armour, with occasional help from his brother and (today) from me...
Well. Yes. That's about it. It's not even that difficult. The building part, that is. The difficult part is getting the materials and the tools...

Heh, I think a circlet is much more difficult - all this precision work! And wire is evilly difficult to handle, anyways.
