Can't live with them, can't live without them
ARGH.
Am I the only person in my Eruforsaken family who can keep her holiday plans in her head? And if the others can't, can they please check their calendars before making further plans?
August 2nd until August 6th:DrachenUrukfest.
My brother and I have been planning to take part, paid the fee, everything's shiny.
Now the original plan was: We go there, and afterwards I take my brother to Bamberg where the rest of the family is on vacations. I stay there for the week, and then on the 12th I may or may not go to Basel.
The plan was modified later on, because I won't be able to get that week off my job (actually, I probably could, but I certainly won't waste my now-scarce vacation time on Bamberg), so we'd just return home right after the Drachenfest.
Are you still with me?
Yesterday my grandmother calls happily. My mom had such a good idea, and because she has Alessio (one of my cousins) over for the vacations, and perhaps a journey with him might be a bit too much for her all alone, wouldn't I like to come along to Hamburg to see the Lion King musical?
Sure, I say. When is it?
August 4th to 6th.
Sorry, I say, that's the Drachenfest weekend. Both Thomas and I have been planning to go there for months, it's all fixed and paid for.
Oh, she says, sounding very, very disappointed - downright defeated - such a pity.
[Insert further protestations of disappointment and sadness.]
Today I phone with my mom, and ask whether she couldn't have checked with my brother before getting my grandmother's hopes up - after all, he knows that both of us aren't there that weekend. (Considering the amount of discussion that went into the holiday plans mentioned first, she should have known, too.)
Why, she says, I thought you were going around the 12th. Same time as we're going to Bamberg.
-You had said you'd return home from Bamberg on the 12th.
-I never did! I booked that myself! We're in Bamberg from the 12th to the 19th.
-Excuse me, but when we last talked about it, you'd said you'd be in Bamberg from the 5th to the 12th, and we'd join you after the Drachenfest.
-Never! I know when we're on vacation! I booked that myself! We were talking about the 12th!
-As the day of departure, yes.
-No, you got that wrong.
-Perhaps. It was a misunderstanding. Anyway, perhaps one could've checked before suggesting to my grandmother that I come along, because she was really disappointed.
-Well I thought you were going around the 12th!
-Couldn't you have asked Thomas?
-I thought you were going around the 12th.
-...right. That went wrong, then. Too bad.
-But I thought you were going the weekend after! We never talked about the weekend around the 5th!
-Yes. Sad. Can we leave it at that?
-But it's not my fault that went wrong! You told me the wrong date!
etc ad libitum
...
Grr. Argh.
And all this while I'm sick with exertion (I ran 9km in 1 hour 5 minutes today, go me!) and trying to juggle doing the dishes and talking to Jörg and his mother. Gnaaaaaaah.

Man vereinbart also seit neustem Zahnarzttermine für(!) mich (!!)(Routinekontrolle), ohne mich darüber zu informieren und ist dann auch noch beleidigt, wenn ich nicht rechtzeitig fertig bin. WTF??
