Very belated *shame on me! shame on my cow! shame on my whole family!*, but: Happy birthday,
- - -
The tit now knows how to change directions in mid-flight. Several times.
Unfortunately it still doesn't manage to feed itself, although it is beginning to pick up the skill of shifting-stuff-around-in-its-beak (as opposed to "it doesn't fit, I'll drop it") and putting-stuff-down-and-picking-it-up-again, so I guess there's hope. I found lovely new ant larvae today for that special fresh protein kick, and there's still a caterpillar munching the leaves in the tit's cage, but it isn't interested in those yet. On the other hand it doesn't frequent its cage anyway, unless it wants to sleep. Instead it uses (and poops in) the entire room.
Jörg has suggested that it should finally have a name. He also suggested that we name it Æthelwold. Æthelwold. Yes, he suggested that. I seem to be rubbing off.
But then his other suggestion was that we name it Helmut. Because in German a great tit is a Kohlmeise. Hah, hah.

"Huh?"
*ratterratterratter*
"Should I be aware in which language 'Kohlmeise' translates to 'Helmut'?"
*ratterratterratter*
"...not getting it."

"Aaaaaaaargh!" *buries face in hands*
Got me.
