Welcome to your new life
You know what's awesome about half a week of LJ being down? I actually have a chance of catching up with my flist! (Or so I hope.)
So I'm back home! Still walking like a zombie (it was more impressive when my left eye was still seriously bloodshot :P), which is kind of a problem: I can't stand sitting or half-lying anymore, but I can't stand or walk for longer periods of time yet...
But on the whole, we're doing well! Felix is feeding nicely now (although it's always a fight to get him properly "docked"). He hates being dressed (or undressed), but loves to snuggle. We're still trying to find a functioning rhythm! Today was pretty good actually - with the family together, when at night I know that Felix can't be hungry again, I can get Jörg to humour the baby. Which means I actually got three times three hours of sleep! Bliss. Of course, I could have left Felix in the care of the nurses at the hospital in order to get more sleep there, but I didn't really want to, not because anything was wrong with the nurses but because I just didn't feel comfortable with OMG MY BABY ELSEWHERE. I suppose I'll have to learn that, eventually, but this is not the day. :P
Felix tends to be an absolute darling in the daytime (but then, there's always someone who'll gladly carry him...) , but he hates to be alone in his cot even though we're immediately across the room. So when he doesn't fall asleep at once, or wakes up, he'll complain. It's fairly easy to appease him, fortunately, but you do have to get up in order to do it...
Anyway! I am also finding that somehow all the hours have gone out of the day because once I've cleaned Felix and changed his nappies and then nursed him, it's noon already, and just when I've turned on the computer or opened a book, it's nursing time again or the nappie is full. And then my parents show up and stay till dinner or something. In between: nursing and diaper-changing. Day ends with some half-assed tv-watching. And nursing.
--- and because it's bedtime now as the baby just emptied my breasts and that sets off the next 3-hour cycle and anyway, I actually just meant to let y'all know that I'm back home and that it may be some time until the promised picspam & report, I'll disappear! Replies to your lovely comments will follow. For now, have a little teaser pic...
(Poor Felix: macro'd before he's even a week old... but I couldn't resist!)
Nighters! And again, more later.

And belated CONGRATULATIONS! I tried to access LJ enough to write this earlier, but no chance. SO happy for you both!!

Thank you! Everyone seems to have had LJ trouble (Jörg wanted to print out all the comments to "my" earlier post, and never managed to even view the site due to the latest DDoS attacks). So don't worry about the delay :)

Also, macros are soo last generations mums, what you need to make a facebook account asap and start updating statuses in his name. You could also think about twitter.

I call him "Precious" all the time myself. (Well, actually I call him Schatz, but that's the same thing in German, so there. I also call him about a dozen other endearments, so the poor kid is probably already going through his first identity crisis! "Am I Felix? No, Schatz. No, Schnullerbacke. No wait, Liebling! Or maybe Rumpelwicht? No, Fröschchen! No, Süßer... heeeelp!")

LOL, oh yes; Life With Baby means life revolves around Baby, and Mama is lucky if she gets time to take a shower and brush her teeth.
It's a good time to go with audiobooks, and to play a lot of music to sing and dance along with, because it's going to be a while before you can find the time for sustained reading. Babies are endlessly fascinating, though; you definitely won't get bored.
*hugs hugs* Joy to all of you,; it's so wonderful you're all home now!

Oh yes. I seriously underestimated the time you get to spend on someone who spends 20 hours a day asleep...
I'm learning to do a lot of things using just one hand so I can at least do some reading or typing. of course, there's always the option of admiring Felix' cute grimaces, too!
It is!
