Accomplishments make the Lyra all squeeful.

It's been a productive weekend!

I went to the eye-doctor (who prescribed new glasses, diagnosed a tiny corneal irregularity and noted that my cornea is generally very firm and thick, took pictures of my retina and visual nerve and decided that "I still had a real light in my eyes" yea, for the light of Valinor is still in my eyes!).

I got four books (mostly essay collections) from the uni library, read two of them, and finally managed to come up with a concept/line-out for the term paper on orality and literacy in Béowulf. YESH. (But goodness, was C.S.Lewis kissing up to Tolkien. I mean, for serious. I've read three relevant essays by him on my paper topics (Béowulf, and GGK), and in each of them he's playing the Peter Pettigrew to Tolkien's James Potter. WTF. I mean, I totally understand that Tolkien is an awesome guy and you just have to worship him, but letting it creep into academic papers? Kinda unprofessional, innit.) Now if only I could keep the books for longer, I might actually get the paper written this week. But nooo, I only get them over the weekends, when I don't have time. And it's getting too damn much to copy.

As the elderberries were starting to shrivel and spoil on the trees, I picked the first batch and made elderberry/apple jam as well as elderberry balsamico vinegar. YUM.

Jörg's mom (as the catalyst) and I cleaned the house. (BEFORE the elderberry orgy, which, on hindsight, wasn't the smartest thing to do, but ah well.)

And Jörg's back from Neckarwestheim and will be here for the next week. ^___^
