So, back from Brokeback Mountain. I'm probably the last person on this planet to have seen it...

I'm always so terribly grateful when a movie everybody hypes about is actually as good as everyone says. Otherwise, I'll go in with sky-high expectations and am terribly disappointed. Not this time, though; they were fulfilled.

The movie was good. Beautiful. Touchingly amusing in the beginning, heart-wrenching later, sad and frustrating and yet, in the end, strangely satisfying in that it felt like yes, that was the story. I wished for an alternate ending, of course. A hundred different endings, all happy ones, or, at least, differently sad ones. As it was, it was bitter-sweet. But it worked, and it felt true. Not right, but true.

Bed, now.

Well, I haven't seen it either O.o *lol*

But I think I am going to, when I am back home.

Sorry for not writing anything here earlier, but this stupid paper for Chinese literature has me going completely bonkers over here. *kicks it*

I am glad you enjoyed the movie though, I've seen sooooo many cute icons from that movie on LJ and I cannot wait to actually find the time to go and watch it. Did you watch it in German or in English?

I'll hopefully catch you on AIM again, once I've shot, stuffed and mounted this vicious creature of a story.

Well, seems I'm the first person to comment who *has* seen it. ;)

It's wonderful, isn't it? Heath Ledger was brilliance incarnate.

I haven't seen it yet! But I'm glad you liked it, I may yet reconsider.
Then again, I don't reeaally like sad endings. :/ And romance is not my thing at all usually.

I haven't seen it yet. I just saw The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe on Sunday. Not even seen GoF yet.

You pretty much summed up all of my feelings regarding this movie. And, yes, isn't it *so* refreshing when a movie lives up to all the hype?

Havn't seen it. Don't plan on watching it.

Not a fan of cowboys.

I guess that makes ME the last person on the planet to see the movie. We might go on Friday. Yes, I've persuaded JMH to watch it with me. *sniggers*
I'm glad you say it's good - I read the short story it's based on, and while that is certainly good writing, I did not like it at all.

I haven't seen it yet, and since it shows gay people as actual people, I doubt I'll ever see it at the base theater. :( I'll have to wait until it's out on DVD, because I really really really want to see it!

In German. Which, seeing how all the English people complain about being unable to understand a word Heath Ledger utters mumbles, was probably not entirely wrong... I'll definitely watch it in English once the DVD's out, though.

Good luck with that nasty short story and term paper!

It is. And I've had two (and a half) of those already this year out of the four times that I actually went to the cinema. Yay!

Well, I haven't read the short story, so I have no idea how the movie compares to that. I've heard it's better than the story, though (for once!). Although, not knowing what you didn't like about the story, that may not mean much, of course...

O_o No chance you can catch it in a 'normal' cinema in Wiesbaden or so? I'm sure they show OVs occasionally...

There's a cinema in Wiesbaden that shows English-language movies occasionally - but I think it's only once a week. I know there are some in Frankfurt, but especially with Fallon's new work schedule and my theater stuff we don't usually have time to get out to Frankfurt for a movie, unfortunately. :(
