oloriel"Sigrid" was sick today, but as we were just going to watch a movie, she sent an assistant - or another professor? I didn't know her, at any rate - to bring us the DVD player and the beamer and have us watch the film anyway.
As we've been reading A Room with a View, nobody will be surprised that that was the movie we watched. It was nice, too, although cringeworthy in places - for the protagonists' behaviour, not because the movie was bad. It was amusing, though. They had cut some parts and shortened others and altered yet others, but the one scene that they showed at full length and in every detail described in the book and then some was - the one where George and Freddy and Reverend Beebe go for a bath in the pond and then grow silly and throw their clothes at each other and fight and run around in the forest all nekkid and then the Honeychurch women and Mr Vyse come marching down the path and run into them. That one. Yeaaaah. We got about ten minutes of naked British men - two of them young and hot and muscular, one elderly and not quite so hot but ok - hopping through the water and the woods, pouncing each other and beating each other up with their wet clothing and - you get the picture.George Emerson/Freddy Honeychurch, anyone?
Now imagine on top of that someone opening the door because there'll always be people who don't know which room their class is in or who show up way too early, and all they see is a dark room, and on the screen right across the door, three naked men are prancing through the forest. Slam, the door went shut, and the Reading Course A was reduced to mad snickering. "Room with a View" indeed!
Otherwise, life is stressful, but I bought my train tickets to and from Fulda for the weekend and I'm currently in the process of colouring my hair in a hue that is amusingly called "copper flame", which I took as a good sign. >_>
