Assorted random pictures, mostly from our shiny new garden.

... so this is NOT in our garden (alas!). This was in Maastricht.
And that was about a month ago. "The Golden One" (we don't know what the cat is called, although I'm tempted to call him Sophonax after Farder Coram's dæmon) hiding behind my sunflowers.
This is my over-achieving bell pepper plant.
Mangetouts
What's that? - Po-ta-toes!
Feed me, Seymour?
Eat me, Seymour!
Finally revealed: Why Spider-man's aunt is played by an actress called Rosemary.
Tricolour Mangold
That was the first zucchini flower.
It was followed by many more. Anyone have any good zucchini recipes? :D
Sorrel. I found a five-leaved sorrel; if four-leaved clover means good luck, certainly a five-leaved sorrel is even better?
Some wild stuff, mostly stinging nettles
Radish adorned with borrowed blossoms
Tomato!
Wilderness behind the terrace
Future blackberries
Wild foxglove
And this, my friends, is the house and barn as seen from the Easternmost part of our land. :D
Kyrill victim, ready for burning. This was really just testing my camera's zoom: Without...
... and with full zoom.
Wild little oak
... with a skeleton leaf
Did I mention that the scent of walnut leaves is the most awesome scent in the world, and it's a bloody shame NOBODY went and made a perfume with it?
Up into the tree
See, the funny thing about the walnut tree is that there's a tiny beech and a tiny currant plant growing in that knothole.
So the mysterious trees turn out to be plum trees.
And this is what happens when the autofocus misbehaves.
All wild stuff, including gooseberries
Mangold, forget-me-nots and chamomile
Camouflage kitten
What's behind that?
Why did nobody tell me the world was so HUGE?
And it's all mine.
Kartoffeltierchen
Whut?
Postmodern take on A Spider Just Killed By A Kitten
Oh, and that was the fire in Cologne we saw when we were gaming.
Impressive, huh?
Fortunately, nobody got hurt in that. Apparently it was the storage depot of a papermill.
Cape gooseberry! Or that's what this blossom aspires to become at any rate.
Idril?
Some shrub
Starflower
Some weed, but it was pretty, so it got to stay.
I have no idea what these are called in English, but I love them.
Oh right, this isn't our garden either.
Sleep of the just
Snoring 'náro
But isn't he cuddly.
Mmbut I'm sleepy.
That's my tail that is.
Tomato! With sunshine!
Chives and peppermint
Poppy!
I'm actually kind of proud of this one.
Wild raspberries

And you learn something new every day. For example I only just discovered another currant bush behind the willows on the other side of the road - hidden cleverly, but now the currants are ripe and red and thus betrayed the bush.

I also learned that the cows on the meadow below ours are named Alberta, Paula and Hermione.

I don't know what the horses on our meadow are called, but they seem to like Jörg. At least they kept pestering him when we tried to bring the wood of the Kyrill victims to our woodshed.

- oh right, the actress was a rosemary. Oh well. Edited. Doesn't have the same ring though. ;)

I was going to guess that she got renamed in the German translation.

Nope, she's May there, too. Flowers, months, it's all the same thing ;)

Great post. I love the pictures of all the plants. :-)

I have a recipe for a home-made bath oil thingy that requires walnut leaves. If you want to I can post it.

The borage blossoms are pretty. And they taste so yummy. *envious* I've given up on having borage on the balcony ... it attracts lice like whoa.

Was ein schöner Garten! So wild! Wow.

Don't scare me!

Although the lice have so far been more interested in the sunflowers than in the borage here.
