Oh look, it's one of those "headache because I need new glasses but I don't have time to go to the oculist" days. Yay.

Trying to get off work for the Drachenfest without using one of my rare and precious vacation days = 10 hours of work a day. >.< It doesn't help that I really only have work for three hours and have to find stuff to do to look like I'm working hard the other seven hours.

Adobe OCR fails not only at recognising Anglo-Saxon, which I am willing to understand; Adobe OCR also fails at recognising Modern English. "h" ≠ "li". "M" ≠ "IiI". "K" ≠ "I<". Is this how 1337 was born?

My termpapers are just stuck. I have found insane amounts of literature that kind of touches my topics, even more insane amounts of literature that doesn't, and I've forgotten what I wanted to claim in the first place. Also the library copying machines are all made of fail. The best idea would probably be a laptop and then just writing the whole thing in a bunch of all-day library sessions. Except I don't have a laptop.

The rains have caught up with us. My way home from work took one and a half hours because the brook in Unterburg had decided to cross the street. Further up the hill, the fire department was already fighting with a blocked sewer, and I had to drive through bumper-height water. At that point, one has already driven four or so kilometers on a street that leads only to/through one place: Unterburg. At that point, they could have put up a sign informing people about Unterburg being underwater.
But no, instead they let them go on, down the hill, right into Unterburg where one can stand in a long queue until one of the firemen wades up to the waiting cars.
"What are you waiting for?"
"... we'd like to pass through once the lights are green?!"
"Oh! Oh, no, you won't be able to pass through within the next few hours."
Why, thanks for telling us so soon.
So, up the hill again, down the hill on the other side, back to the usual road. Torrential rain all around.

At least we're living halfway up the hill.

I hope all the rain has come down once it's time to leave for the Drachenfest. >_>
