Escapism doesn't mean we don't return.
Aug. 12th, 2007 08:41 pmI am back!
Sunburnt and sunstruck from the last 24 hours; muddy from the time before that. Relentless rains and the steady trod of some thousand pairs of feet turned the festival side into a mudpit. If Cele or anyone from kendô practice could see my hakama now, they'd kill me. All my garb is speckled with mud. You have no idea how hard it is to get mud off LARP weapons. I think the Drachenfest '07 should officially be renamed to Golemfest.
Otherwise it was fun - on the whole; there was a lot of annoyance (mostly IC) and mess-ups (mostly thanks to communication failure between GMs, NPCs and the camps) in between, but my character and me were able to take it with a grain of salt (unlike others). But I met lovely people and awesome LARPers and got all the fun and excitement and adventure I ever went to the scouts for.
I am tired because the brotherthing and I and our tent-neighbours and (later, when the taverns closed) a bunch of random people and some bottles of mead sat and counted meteoroids until the sun rose, which was wonderful but kind of didn't leave much time for sleep.
So, will try to clean stuff up (or hang it out to dry and THEN clean it up), then clean myself up, then go to bed. Work tomorrow.
It doesn't help that our washing machine broke last week.
It doesn't help that my glasses survived five days of battling only to break right in the middle when they fell off the table. Yes, I desperately needed new ones anyway, and yes, now I absolutely have to go and see the eyedoctor, but - well. I can't see much. I just hope I can deal with my contacts for more than the usual two hours, or I won't be able to get to work (or do anything there, for that matter).
Welcome to the real world.
