FINALS! FINALS!

Last football post for today, I promise.

I may be a bad person but somehow I'm relieved --- if Turkey had won and some neonazi assholes had started trouble, I would've had to be ashamed for countrymen so to say. Now if Turkish idiots start trouble, I'll still be ashamed for people, but it's difficult.

The BEST thing, of course, would be if rahja's experience with the Portuguese fan whom she met on the way home, who hugged her and congratulated her for a good game and a fair victory, could be repeated. Because that's what it SHOULD be like.

ETA: ... last time Germany made it to the finals of any kind of international footsie championship and we got to sing Finale! Oooho! was a few days after my graduation and prom. (During our graduation service suddenly there was great honking and cheering outside, and the reverend shouted from the pulpit, "WE WON!" and then embarrassedly returned to her sermon. That was when Germany beat the US in the quarter-finals.)

Eru, feels like that was ages ago. And it's only six years.

Then again six years are a quarter of my life, as it is, and a billion things have changed since.

Ich hoffe, ihr hattet bei euch auch ruhe. Bei uns war es richtig schön. Alle Türken und deutsche haben zusammen gefeiert. keine Asis dabei gewesen obwohl ich das erwartet hab.
