As in: I've been hiding from LJ because, in order to qualify for posting about recent events & stuff going on, I feel that I first should post about the birthdays I missed, because after all I felt rotten after nobody remembered my birthday in spring, and I don't want to do that to other people. So I am not happening online. (Congratulations, Felix: What a grown-up mom you have.)

But we're gonna break that habit now! So here, in order of having-missed-ness:

Yeah, this is so extremely belated that it hardly counts anymore, but hey, for the sake of completeness...

Do I even know if you're still addicted to all things Clamp? No, I don't! I'm great at keeping up, aren't I!

Non-Tolkien!Elves for a change! On THIS journal! Miracle of miracles!

... there, that didn't even hurt. *sighs at self* Let's see how long it takes me to update, now...

Mea culpa. I forgot your birthday. Having just checked my calendar (because I couldn't believe I did, but it turns out to be true), may I offer the pathetic excuse of having been abroad (Amsterdam) at the time?

I'm feeling bad. :o(

Aww, thank you! I love the picture you chose :) (as one may see from my LJ header).

And I know the feeling - don't be so hard on yourself, we all do our share of avoiding stuff at times! *hugs*

It's never a problem when one individual person "forgets" it - we all have stuff going on, after all - so don't feel bad. It was just that (for the second time) every single individual person on my f-list had something going on. That hurt, even though I'm sure nobody intended that!

Bah. For someone who keeps saying she doesn't celebrate her birthdays anyway because after the age of 18, who cares, really, I'm sure whiny, aren't I...

Heh! I didn't even think of your header (even though I thought "Hm, I've seen this one before") - it was just the first ElfQuest image I found that offered itself for a birthday card! The others had wolves and spears that were kind of threatening anyone who looked at the picture, or individual characters where I didn't know whether those wouldn't turn out to be characters you couldn't stand. I'm terribly uninformed about these people! But I figured I couldn't do much wrong with this one. ^^

Here in the UK there's always a Bank Holiday around 1st May, because of labour day, which surely doesn't help.

I agree that birthdays are not what they used to be, since I hit 20, maybe. After I had children, anticipation was more about their birthdays than about mine. But it's still nice to get a few messages. Next year I'll make plans as soon as I get the LJ reminder, even if I'm going to be away.

Same here! In communist Europe, Mayday... um... can't think of a clever line now.

Exactly - even when I don't celebrate, I like hearing a "Happy Birthday". Actually, some friends said they didn't get any LJ messages alerting them of my birthday, so that was probably part of the problem. (I often only remember birthdays thanks to those messages, too. Or because someone else on my f-list congratulates a mutual friend. >_>)
