The Ice Saints are (Central) European weather singularity, I think - I know that France gets them too because they have a saying Avant Saint-Servais, point d'été/ après Saint-Servais, plus de gelée ("Before St. Servatius, it's almost summer/ after St. Servatius, there's no more frost") but I'm not even sure about the British Isles. So no, you probably don't have them over in the States!
Good to know for the future! I didn't think of any options but "wring its neck" (too small, and I was afraid it might bite me in its fear!) or "cut its throat", although I'm aware of the health risks. >_>
Seriously!
Yeah, I don't expect that'll be in our lifetimes. Two steps forward, one step back, but at least it (mostly?) isn't the other way around...
They aren't Catholics themselves - they belong to some Evangelical sect (i.e. big-time heretics ;)). But nothing they do/have done is in any way consistent, so one more inconsistency is neither surprising nor out of character! >_>
