Takin' care of business

olorielThe presentation of d00m is over and done with; the semester is crawling towards its end; and since Japanese didn't clog my schedule this time, I might actually be able to take the intermediate exam for English and Anthro next semester.
Actually, I could bite myself for not going by train earlier. It takes slightly longer than going by car, but not only does it save me about 200€ per month, which already rocks like Aulë, but also brings me finally back to a decent reading quota of about three books per week. However, Good Omens is not a good book to read on the train, because it has me in a constant fit of gigglesnorting which gets me many strange glances. *cough*
That said, today of all days the Deutsche Bahn (German Railway Association) seemed to be intent on spoiling my presentation: First my train got stuck and then it wouldn't stop at my station (Cologne South). I still managed to get there just in time, but narrowly.
Silmarillion update: Finished the Valaquenta, so now I'm free to start with the real thing. I already drew the very first cover. Yay!
And I reconstructed my stimulus satiation (that is, I stuck all the little pictures I collected through the last four years to the wall above my computer). It looks different than before, but I think I shall pretend that this belongs to its process. And it's always great to have people ponder the possible connections between the pictures. I don't always have reasons to put them in a particular order (though often I do), and it's fun if people still come up with some explanation that never crossed my mind.
If only I could get my inner calendar to acknowledge it's July. It's still claiming to be somewhere in early spring, and the weather playing April doesn't help at all.
Still, feeling quite accomplished. And very tired. Goodnight.

Das widerliche letzte Referat ist vorbei und erledigt; das Semester kriecht seinem Ende zu; und da Japanisch meinen Stundenplan mal nicht verstopft hat, könnte ich im nächsten Semester tatsächlich die Zwischenprüfung in Englisch und Ethno versuchen.
Außerdem könnte ich mich in den Hintern beißen, weil ich nicht schon seit Ewigkeiten Zug fahre. Es dauert zwar etwas länger als Autofahren, aber es spart mir nicht nur um die 200€ pro Monat, was schon klasse ist, sondern es ermöglicht mir auch endlich wieder, um die drei Bücher pro Woche durchzulesen. Allerdings ist Good Omens kein gutes Bahnfahrbuch; ich bin ununterbrochen am kichern, wodurch ich ständig komische Blicke ernte. *hust*
Heute allerdings hatte die Deutsche Bahn sich anscheinend gegen mich und mein Referat verschworen; erst blieb der Zug ständig stehen, dann hielt er nicht an meiner Endhaltestelle Köln Süd. Ich bin noch rechtzeitig zum Seminar gekommen, aber wirklich nur um Sackhaaresbreite.
Silmarillion-Update: Die Valaquenta ist erledigt, jetzt geht es also an die eigentliche Geschichte. Das erste Deckblatt habe ich schon fertig. Yay!
Und meine Reizüberflutung habe ich auch wieder zusammengebaut (das heißt, ich habe endlich die ganzen Bildchen, die ich die letzten vier Jahre durch gesammelt habe, an die Wand über meinem PC gepappt). Es sieht anders aus als früher, aber ich denke, ich werde behaupten, dass das so gehört. Und es macht immer Spaß, wenn die Leute überlegen, welche Hintergedanken ich bei der Kombination der Bilder hatte. Ich habe nicht immer Gründe, bestimmte Bilder zusammenzuhängen (obwohl es oft welche gibt), und es ist lustig, wenn Leute Dinge reininterpretieren, an die ich nie gedacht habe.
Wenn ich jetzt nur noch meinen inneren Kalender dazu bringen könnte, zu akzeptieren, dass Juli ist. Er steht immer noch auf Anfang Frühling, und das Aprilwetter hilft da nicht gerade.
Trotzdem, fühle mich ziemlich gut. Und sehr müde. Gute Nacht.
