May I introduce you to my brother's latest favorite word, þryðswyð?
It means mighty.
From all the "cool" phrases he used during the last years ("decadent"; "for reasons of national safety" whenever you asked him any question beginning with 'why'), this is certainly the weirdest one.

Darf ich euch meines Bruders neues Lieblingswort vorstellen? Es heißt þryðswyð und bedeutet mächtig.
Von all den "coolen" Phrasen, die er sich in den letzten Jahren angewöhnt hat ("dekadent"; "aus Gründen der nationalen Sicherheit", wann immer man ihn nach irgendeinem "warum" fragte) , ist das auf jeden Fall das merkwürdigste.

It's Old English, you pronounce it... um... you know the pronunciation rules for Sindarin? (or you can look them up, anyway?) Then pretend it's written thrydhswydh and pronounce it accordingly.

Weird characters? Well, for one you can use the ALT+numbers codes.
ALT+231 is þ, ALT+208 is ð.
Or, if you have no memory for that stuff, like me, you could open word, search for the weird characters via insert->symbols, and then copy and paste them into the text.
Or there are html codes for that; &(thorn without the bracket should result in þ, &(eth without the bracket should result in ð. (Thorn and eth are the names of the runes).
Um. Yes. Does that help any?

Eek! That's a complicated word to pronounce :S

The info you provided was more than the help that I expected. Thank you :)

Yes, it is... I think that's part of why he likes it. Because unless you've practiced it for a while, you can't imagine it's pronouncable at all...

No problem! If you need any more "weird characters", I can (hopefully) provide you with the codes for them, too...
