Two worlds

See, this is exactly what I meant.
It's this totally different way of thinking:
American: OMG London was bombed! Let's cancel anything that might even remotely remind anyone of these terrible events, because OMG denial is SO IMPORTANT.
British: Och, aye. It's terrible. Who's up for War of the Worlds tonight?

Because the best way to show the terrorists that they did not win is to show them that life goes on, and that their despicable acts did not change the world's course around the sun.

Which is not meant to mock the victims, belittle what happened or say that Americans are bad and wrong. I love you people, I hope you know that. Except for your president, him I love not. It's only media. And there are wise Americans and dramatizing Brits, too.
But you can't help but notice.

I was really worried when I heard about the attack because I knew that there were explosions at two stations that a very good friend of mine uses on a daily basis, I knew I'd never get her on her mobile so I was just bouncing off the walls for about an hour waiting for her to email or update her LJ. I wouldn't have been in the mood for jokes then but afterwards? Hell, I found those metaquotes funny. Laughter is a great way of relieving tension, bring on the mock I say.

And the Aussies sit back and say "Oh yeah, knew it would happen sooner or later, so what are you going on about?"
Of course that also applies to ourselves, being a part of this "War On Terror" it's not if we get attacked, it's when (though you won't get John Howard saying that!), although we did get pretty badly affected by Bali (half those killed in the Bali bombing were Australians).
