An lj-friend passed away last night, a month before her 33rd birthday. I did not know her well; I merely knew some of her fan-work, and I knew her because she was the metaquotes mod. I liked her sense of humour. I suppose that is not the worst thing to say about somebody after their death, "I liked her sense of humour", although it might not be part of a list of Things You Want People To Say Of You After You're Dead. But what do you say when all you know about a person is what you read in their livejournal? I enjoyed reading hers. And she was the second person I knew to use the term 'subrealism' (and probably the one who coined it).
This is all terribly trite, so I shall shut up now. I'm just... terribly sorry; for her, and for her husband, and the others whom her death leaves behind.

Rest in peace, _redpanda_.

Ich kannte sie ja so gut wie gar nicht. Sie war mir in ihren Posts/Comments sympathisch und ich wusste halt, dass sie owner von metaquotes war. Das war's. Ich hab dann vor 'ner Weile irgendwo in den Comments gelesen, dass sie momentan nicht moderieren kann, weil sie wegen Krebs im Krankenhaus ist. Da hab ich gedacht, urgh, wie böse, die Arme. Das sie dann kurze Zeit später "einfach so" stirbt hab ich nicht gedacht. Und es ist schwerer, für Leute zu empfinden, zu denen man gar keine Beziehung hat, aber das hat mich ziemlich traurig gemacht. Das ist dieses "Nein, das kann nicht sein das sie (oder er) einfach nicht mehr da ist."-Gefühl. *sigh*

At least you knew her a little better than I. I have only seen her around every so often and recognised her as "the one who has a red panda as her icon and her username".

I did a whole post dedicated to her on Sages. I'll miss her. She was always nice to me.
