Attempts at Divination
Jan. 1st, 2006 03:06 pmSooo. I scanned the lead relief and did some sketches to clarify how I see stuff in it. Mwaaahahahah. Join me in wild interpretations of the results (or other things you see that I missed).

1. An igloo. An igloo with a radio antenna, moreover.

Well. The igloo implies Arctic regions, and the radio antenna something to do with science. Will I join a research team inKalaalit NunaatGreenland? Search for proof of the first Native Americans actually coming from Asia via the then-frozen Bering Strait ... how very Fingolfinian? I have no idea.
2. A yurt.

a) The yurt symbolizes Mongolia, which in turn implies Asia. I'll go to Asia. It might mean that I actually manage to get to Japan this year?
b) Or it might just be an 'ambientic' tent and mean that I go to some LARP event, like the Urukfest f.k.a. Drachenfest. Possible.
c) Being a tent, it might also stand for homelessness. Augh. Not going there.
3. A bat.
Should, according to traditional dream symbolism, be seen as a warning. Symbolizes darker sides of someone's personality. Implies paranoia and the upsetting of one's mental balance. Huh.
I was too lazy to draw that one. It's easy to see. It works with the same original setting as
4. A phoenix.

a) Something terrible will happen. But I'll return to my old condition afterwards, or come out stronger. ... urgh.
b) Wait, is Order of the Phoenix coming to cinemas this year? Um, no, next. So... I might get a role in the upcoming movie? Hah hah?
c) Of course, the phoenix might also stand for Jean Grey, and thus simply mean that I'll go and watch X-men 3. Mystery solved.
d) Also, I might finally re-write that urban fantasy story that I actually meant to do for NaNo until something from that story's distant backstory declared that it should be written instead.
...
5. Finally, the man fighting an alien/ dragon/ other sort of monster.

Sooo. We have some guy. With a sword. Opposite some sort of strange creature. Which some guy seems to be fighting. The pair is standing on top of some sort of cavernous mountain.
a) I have to fight a monster. Literally or figuratively. The monster potentially being everything and anything from a person via Law or university to Life In General. Nice prospect. Moreover, the porose quality of the... thing I stand on implies that my footing may crumble, or my world shatter, or something of the sort. Okay, I'm scared now.
b) ... again, some LARP event? Erm.
c) I should just admit that I have an over-active imagination.
EDIT: Come to think of it, the monster actually looks cute rather than hostile. So, fighting it may be a mistake. So, the whole thing might mean a big misunderstanding. On fragile ground, moreover. ... or, as
ladyelleth suggested, the guy isn't actually holding a sword but throwing a stick for the monster to retrieve. I'm getting a pet monster? SWEET!
EDIT 2: She also points out that it might be an ant-eater rather than a monster. This is getting cuter and cuter.
Hah.
Und die Moral von der Geschicht': Nix Genaues weiß man nicht.
