Orc-ears for Feanor
May. 25th, 2003 11:33 pmAnother weekend, another happening. Or three. Almost scary - so many wonderful weekends in one row, seems like too good to last.
I already wrote about the drummers on Friday, didn't I? Oh yes, I did. The eventful weekend continued on Saturday with the 15th Tolkien Day in Cologne, where some members of my fellowship managed to come. It was, as it was the last time, great - a nice bunch of people, several known faces; a comfortable place; a evilly difficult quiz; lots of books to search for the answers; the wonderful hobbit kitchen (thanks for the Lembas and the Orc-ears *g*); cool lectures (I couldn't attend most because I was busy solving the quiz, but they sounded interesting, anyway - although I still think that the Faramir from the book is better than the Faramir from the movie); a painting workshop for table-top miniatures (high addiction potential); the games; lots of fun. And I managed to get second in the quiz, which got me a signed picture by John Howe, yay! (The six first places went to Aditu, me and my fellowship, because we'd all supplied answers and shared them - that's not cheating, you guys, we just understood the spirit of fellowship, ok?!)
Had to leave early today, unfortunately, although it was for just as great an event: the Wise Guys concert. That was incredible - they sung for 2 and a half hours - don't want to know what that does to their vocal cords. It was of course totally great; they're just too funny, intelligent, mean and cool.
And I did hardly anything for the Kanji test tomorrow. *sigh* Looked at the cards but couldn't keep them in my busy mind. That's the setback, it seems.
I also developped some sort of crush on the chairman of the German Tolkien Society. How embarassing. *blush*
