Yesterday (or maybe it was today already) I got to know that on Thursday, August 14th, the forest around Leuk (that's where the Middle-earth Festival took place) went up in flames. Apparently, no people got hurt but over 200 had to be evacuated with helicopters; and the preserved area of the forest is completely destroyed, as are some buildings (among them an American satellite station. But apparently, that doesn't have anything to do with that outage on the same day...). Isn't it horrible. To imagine that the wonderful forest from 4 weeks ago is completely gone... I'm so glad that at least no one got hurt or killed.
The MEF community is already brainstorming how to help. It's amazing what an emotional bond to Leuk "we" formed. I do hope we'll be able to do something to help...
