Oct. 23rd, 2003 10:04 pmYou know you'll like the seminar when the professor shows a "Calvin and Hobbes" comic strip to make you think about the difference between play, game and sport.
You know you'll like another seminar when the professor asks, "You all know who the Borg are, don't you?"
(Of course, a seminar entitled "Materiality and Virtuality in Cyberpunk" sort of lets you expect something like that...)
More pearls from said course:
"I'd say this is where the text goes over the Wupper."
Student: "But the machine doesn't give a f... something. Anything."
Prof: "The machine doesn't care."
Student: "Yes, just as in reality the universe doesn't give a... care."
Prof: "But why should art only be art if people communicate by it?"
*mobile phone rings with some Mozart tune*
Prof: "There we have some classical art."
(Yes, I had to collect teachers' and students' quotes and stupid sayings for our graduation yearbook. Somehow, that *must collect* conditioning obviously is still inside me. As
kaneda would undoubtedly say, "The offline version of bash.org..." ;)
You know that you'll hate Thursdays all term because it's so packed, but can't throw out anything because one class is obligational, two you go to out of pure interest and the last one is really interesting as well and the only thing you'll be able to take in Cultural Anthropology this time. :P
Too tired. Even too tired to... do things I shouldn't do anyway. Or so. Ngah.
