My christmas wishlist exploded.

I don't know the exact time when it happened; however, I know where I was at the time. Messe Essen, Spiel 2003, Hall 6, Tolkien Corner. Eeeeeeevil. Lots of books I want to have. Lots of smaller stuff. Andúril. Nuff said.

It's a bit paradox how I always want to go to conventions and exhibitions like that because I tend to dislike the crouds they're connected with. I can't stand people who think they have to move so slowly it's hardly moving anymore when there are thousands of people around who all want to get to everywhere. The people who have to stop (in groups, of course) in the middle of a gangway or door for a smoke/ talk/ drink I can stand even less. I love all most of the stuff that can be seen there, and I like the atmosphere, but at the same time the masses of people pushing and shoving and standing and crawling drive me insane.

And the German Beyblade Championships against the Black Ninja? Ilúvatar gracious.

But if was great. I spent 99€ that I don't have on a chainmail coat. Since these things usually cost somwhere around 299€ I rectify this by saying that in two years I would've bought one anyway and this way I saved 200€ I might have spent in two years, so it was, of course, wise.

Also, wearing a chainmail coats ensures that nice guys talk to you. The first one asked whether he might lift it and mused whether it was heavy or not. The second asked whether the weight was properly dispersed since it lies on my shoulders only at the rims. The third one said he had a bet running with a colleague whether it was made of aluminium or steel. Steel. He won.
Next time I feel lonely and unloved, I'll go some place in that chainmail.

Then I bought a box of tabletop figures that aren't officially out yet. It was a hard decision between the Last Alliance warriors and the Minas Tirith warriors, but eventually I chose the latter, and yes, maybe I did because they, well, are due in a month but I could get them now. I'll get the Last Alliance ones later on, though, so I'll mix Third Age Gondorians and Second Age Gondorians and Elves. And I need Isildur, of course. And Elendil and Gil-Galad. And just for the heck of it, Tom Bombadil, although I don't know what he should do on the battle-field...

I got a bunch of dices as well because [livejournal.com profile] kaneda, [livejournal.com profile] eliathanis, [livejournal.com profile] daydreamersrest and me want to start a DSA round. (DSA is a German roleplaying system somewhat like AD&D.) And the first Zuckerfisch comic book, and Naomi Fearn signed it and drew the gay bunny for me. Cute. And a Latin and English teacher drew a Japanese elf for me. Finally a teacher who understands students who have to draw in class... *g* She also had a bunch of beautiful illustrations. Gotta research more later.

I forgot to get something for my brother's birthday, though. Maybe tomorrow.

And I think by today I fulfilled my Japanese Cultural History homework, which was thinking about the terms "play", "game" and "sport". Yupp. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

Now my shoulders and feet hurt a bit. And "What Dreams May Come" awaits, so I'm off to Heaven ;)

-later-

I think that movie's Heaven isn't even that unrealistic. Even though it orients on the "real world". Of course it does, if people build it out of their thoughts, of course they stick to familiar images. If we orient by what we conceive as reality, we won't stop doing that only because we're dead, will we? And different peoples' Heavens may be similar just because of similar ideas. I don't want to know how full of people the Middle-earth inspired Heaven might be. Númenor for me, please.

There really is snow already. Not here, but in this country. If we have December weather in October, can we please get December movies in October as well? *hinthint*
