oloriel: Stitch (from Disney's Lilo and Stitch) posing after the manner of Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man. (grins)
Well, finally. *slams Jane Eyre shut* [livejournal.com profile] kaneda, or anyone else who doesn't want to maybe get spoiled, just skip to the next paragraph, will you?
No, I didn't finish it, and no, I'm not fed up with it. I was just beginning to get annoyed by their very obvious love for each other (very obvious, that is, to everyone but themselves, until finally Jane got angry and accidentally admitted it). Goodness. If I didn't like her or despised Rochester, I couldn't care less: but I like them both, and it did start to hurt how they just didn't get around to declare themselves. Not that I expect everything to run smoothly now, but at least THAT obstacle is overcome.

Our dear solar system has decided to give me a belated birthday present in the shape of a total lunar eclipse that'll even take place at a reasonable time. Now isn't this nice.

Having to drive to university as early as I have to on Tuesdays has at least a few advantages: All the radio stations try hard to make everyone's start into the day enjoyable, so the program is good at that time; and when the sun shines, the light is spectacular, now that the trees are green or in bloom. The disadvantages, besides having to get up at 6:30, are that everyone drives to work at that time, so it takes twice the time to get to Cologne; and that the class isn't really worth it. It won't be hard to get a Schein there; but we're sitting among people whose lack of knowledge, to put it with Darth Vader, I find disturbing. I really do. [Beginning with never having done a presentation before and ending with studying English literature when they can hardly understand English.] Yes. So by the time that was over, I was already de-motivated for the rest of the day, though I had been in a really good mood when I'd arrived at first. [In Cologne itself, I had been greeted by a giant inflatable football player. By giant I meant that it towered over the rooves of the neighbouring houses. Not that they're that high, only about 6 or 7 stories; but still. It was accompanied by a less gigantic gladiator pointing his foam gladius at passing cars, and two normal-sized football players with a sign "The Cologne Gladiators wish you a great day". Never heard of 'em before, but that's sure nice of them.] But RCL was brilliant as ever and network analysis was alright.

Finally obtained a copy of the Kalevala. 20 Euros. Phew. I mean, I understand that it was hard work for Elias Lönnrot to hike through Finland gathering material, but to be honest, I don't see why poor students have to pay his travelling expenses after more than 150 years.

Note to self: Next year, no splitting myself on my birthday. I thought I hated the usual family ceremony 'n stuff, but I did miss it, having spend this and the last birthday pretty much rotating. No more. Next year, we'll celebrate here. After all, we really should have finished renovating by then.

One hour left 'till the eclipse begins. But it won't really be dark by then. Well, it will by the time it reaches total, I daresay.
