Managed to scan good ol' Feanor, who is currently hanging out at [livejournal.com profile] livingshapes. Say hello to Feanor.

Please tell me it's perfectly normal that when a presentation handout says "1917 - Foundation of Hogarth Press", you read 'Hogwarts Express'.

Checked the planetary clock today and was delighted to see that the second and the third planet were indeed building a line. I don't know why it fascinates me so much when ancient old-fashioned technology works, because that's its job after all, but it does.
Since I had two hours to kill after Yet Another Meeting With My Presentation Group, I went over to the guys and gals of the geophysical department who had brought out a telescope and some mirror-boxes and some special foil glasses. That permitted me to watch the Venus transition, or parts of it. I didn't see the sun spots though (others could. I blame it on my damned near-sightedness), but even so it was very impressive, having a little black spot wandering across the sun. Also was given a map of the Mars surface ( what the fuck am I supposed to need a Mars map for?! I don't expect to get stuck there any time soon), a poster of some space shuttle and two catalogues about any space project whatsoever that Germany participates in. Nifty. Useless, but nifty.

Spent the rest of the two hours sitting on the grass behind the university main building and read The War of the Flowers, which I find highly recommendable. A quite different take on Fairyland, and at a friendly length for a Tad Williams book. Which means that its written in a good, quick pace and doesn't drag on and on in (long) places like the Otherland and Memory, Sorrow and Thorn books do (which I like nonetheless)...

Maybe it's just me, but I think Harî Potâ to Azukaban no Chûji sounds extremely cool.
