Random Ranting XIII
Jul. 21st, 2004 10:25 amMy parents and even my brother and my aunt Karin and her five sons are in France now, and I have to languish in university and finish a term paper for Tuesday and write an exam on Monday and write more term papers during the vacations and have to find a job and am not allowed to feel bad because others are worse off and blah.
Oh Friday, my dearest will have to leave me for three weeksto bathe in radiation and come back all mutated to oversee or whatever a nuclear plant revision or whatever.
Even my grandma is going to visit her sister for the next week.
They're leaving me alone.
Yesterday, I finally got the stamp for the second semester guidance counselling. Yes, I know that I'm in fourth semester. *coughs* Anyway, if what he told us at that counselling is true, the intermediate exam for English is a piece of cake. Apparently, you get three books (one prose, one drama, one linguistic) at the beginning of the semester you want to take the exam in, have to read them, then at the end of the semester you have to write a two-hour essay on a question about those books, and do one hour of tranlating 10 stupid sentences from German to English. IS THERENO ONE NOTHING ELSE?!
WTF moment 1: Yesterday after university, waiting on the platform for my train to come, I noticed that the train arriving on the other track was labelled to go to HAMA. I realized right afterwards that it was the train to HAMM, of course, only the fourth-position capital A seemed to have got stuck (the next train went to GerAlstein)... but it was a short moment of "huh?". Is there a train to Éomer, too?
WTF moment 2: Uindôzu Miserable Edition? Right. Whatever. (Click. Click right away. Click some more for more wtf.)
WTF moment 3: A haunted rubber duckie. But of course. Who comes up with a story like that? Is it a scam or does the guy who wrote it believe it? (I always want to think of things like this as scams, but often enough, I've had to learn they aren't after all.) And WHO is willing to pay over $40 for a damn rubber duckie, haunted or not?!
Quote of Yesterday:
camwyn told how she'd shown fotos of a Mountie in Ottawa to her knitting group, and how one had asked why the Mountie wasn't riding a moose.
To which
myrsine replied,
"...
a MOOSE? Eru H. Tapdancing Iluvatar.
This is all."
Which had me spill apple juice on my monitor and now I have an image in my head I really don't need of the big bad Ainulindalë tap dance and I've been bitten by the Lord of the Rings/ Lord of the Dance crossover plot bunny. AAAH!
I finally managed to bring the Veldenz films to the store to get them developped. I also ordered CDs right away, because I'm too lazy to scan and because I really hope the quality of the pictures will be better than. I'll see tomorrow, or on Friday.
I had a Strange Dream (TM) again. This time, it was something about inexplicable things happening in some small village (disappearing children, fish rains, that kind of thing) that seemed to be linked to George W. Bush. Don't ask. A bunch of fantasy role-players were sent on a quest to find out more, but I had to get up just when we seemed to get to the core of it. *sigh*
Haven't been to karate practice for two weeks. Again. Damnit. I'll never get back to my old practice rhythm this way. Well, actually I don't want to get back to the old one. I wanted to introduce a new one (namely, Monday- Kendô, Tuesday- Karate, Wednesday- Karate, Friday- Kendô and, hopefully, Kyûdô again). But I'm too overall lazy.
I hope I'll finally get my South Africa journal written properly during the vacations. I hope to get a lot of things done during the vacations.
I also hope to get a few things done before the vacations, so that's that.
