I told you about Mr Franke cutting off his geraniums and throwing them off the balcony. Said balcony has begun to rust through, so it had to be repaired. (That still doesn't explain why he threw the flower-pots into the garden instead of taking them off the balcony to put them out there again afterwards.) Four weeks ago, he had called someone to do this, who had build half a scaffold under the balcony, then vanished to return "in two weeks" (everyone knowing The Money Pit raise your hands!). Well, yesterday he finished the scaffold and began to liberally apply a hammer and chisel to that poor balcony. Today, he's breaking down - the scaffold.
The balcony has, as far as I can see, not been repaired. It looks just the same as before, except for four additional holes where the scaffold went through.
Way to go.
I really don't get it.

In other news, I want a laptop, a lyre and a paid LJ account. In no particular order. All at once is fine.
(I also want Kendô armour, but that would have clashed with the alliterational tricolon.)

QotD: Since the Neil Gaiman comment on Cthulhu plush slippers has already been metaquoted, I'll go with this nugget instead:

Of course, in canon, Morgoth put Maedhros on that mountain because he wanted to torment him. But this isn’t canon, it’s the most bastardized version of the Valar in existence.

I have to admit to taking some small pride in that.

~[livejournal.com profile] limyaael in her LJ commentary on an episode of her Mary Sue parody The Game of the Gods (in which Morgoth plays Mary Sue chess with Varda and various other characters, including is not-so-secretly beloved Maedhros, in which Fëanor finally recovers all three Silmarils, and in which Nienna is doing psychotherapy for the inmates of Mandos.)

The ways of Elfwood are ineffable strange. My very first ticket was processed within a day. The second took 12 days.
Well, but it got accepted, so who's complaining? Not me...

And OME, I so want to be in Amsterdam on September 9th! Anyone up for a short summer trip to the Netherlands?

[By the way, what sort of obsession does Yeats have with the word "gyre"?]
