All ye Valar. No Kendô practice for a month, and look what I've turned into. We only had a short practice session because the first hour of practice went into explaining and demonstrating to the newbies what Kendô actually is, and I'm still dead from a few rounds of kiri-kaeshi. Pathetic. I've got no endurance at all.
Of course, this being a Japanese sport, I had to drag my sorry exhausted wreck of a body through all of practice anyway, albeit slowly, and then Führen-sensei came on top of it all and began to criticize my technique (rightly so, I seem to have forgotten all and any correct movements that I had learned before summer; but I was exhausted, ok? I can't pay much attention to correct stanze and strike when I have to focus all my remaining strength into remaining upright and on my feet, can I? Well, apparently I can). He even was really helpful, especially considering this is Führen-sensei we're talking about.
I had also dragged Cele along, so she could see whether she wanted to do Kendô or not. She was impressed and wants to take part; I'm curious how long she'll make it. Well, she wants to go to the military, so if she gets through the first semester of Kendô drill, at least her plans to become a soldier lose some of their (now apparent) irrationality.
I was kind of embarassed to suck so much before her, but she said she hadn't noticed any signs of exhaustion. Either she's extremely polite, extremely shortsighted, or I'm a better actress than I suppose I am.
And my poor dear has got his hand hurt during his Jûdô practice which is bad because
now I can't expect him to massage my sore shoulders he has to do a presentation tomorrow and all. Ngah.
At least I did manage to tape the
Star Wars: Episode III trailer. Half of it is old footage anyway, but the new pictures... oh well. At least it had Qui-gon in it. (No, it was alright. But it wasn't as powerful and sweeping as either of the trailers for the other prequels, and considering that the trailers were better than the actual movies, this kinda sucky trailer... oh well, it's not like I have any great expectations left. (Not so, I lie. I still hope that Episode III will be great and justify it all. But I hoped Kerry would win, too, so go figure.))
Also got mail from the Anthropology professor from my first semester. She won't come to university until Thursday, so she can't check the records before then. At least she wrote she thinks I do have the
Schein, but even this way, I can forget about the Intermediate for this semester, because the deadline for registration is - tadaa - Thursday noon. Unless they actually let you hand in three belated
Scheine for the registration, which I very much doubt, I'll have to wait till next semester, and then I
have to do it because otherwise the professor with whom I have to do two of the three parts of the exam will be anywhere but here and then I can forget about it altogether. But next semester I wanted to do the Japanese exam, and Japanese and Anthro are both evilly complicated, so I certainly don't want to take them both at once. Damn, damn, damn.
*sigh*
