You know, when you have to do something you really don't look forward to, the temptation to get into the Thalys train on the opposite track instead of going downstairs and taking the subway is really, really hard to fight.

*sigh* Still, I did not go to Paris Nord, but to the museum, and I did my presentation on How To Pretend You Prepared The Topic Although You Didn't Really the Dogon in Mali. Luckily, the prof has no idea whatsoever of modern technologies, so my hastily stuck-together PowerPoint presentation convinced him that I'd invested a lot of time and thought on it. Even more luckily, the internet sources I had found for lack of useful book literature proved to be reliable, and the photos I had googled at random were good enough too, because he knew some of the places and talked about them at great length so I could just nod and pretend I would've said that, too, but now Dr. Schneider already mentioned it, I'll just go on to the next point ---

So yeah. I need a laptop. Neither Anja (my presentation partner) nor I have one, and it was mere luck that we found someone who was willing to lend hers to us. I won't always be that lucky. And using the Force PowerPoint really makes presentations that much easier, and strangely, more convincing.
Let alone that you don't have to spend money on stupid transparencies.
