Twenty-twoishness
May. 2nd, 2005 08:13 amI meant to post this yesterday when LJ crashed on me. Well, it's back, so there.
Thanks to everyone who congratulated me ^_^ [aren't I lazy just to post this here instead of thanking anyone separately? Well, ok. Thank you,
eruannath,
shiverdl,
malicedl,
nefantoiel,
rahja,
elfy,
eliathanis,
sparksdonnen and
thaliontholwen! Hope I didn't forget anyone. If so, you may shout at me and I'll edit this.]
Twenty-two is what they call a "booze number" here. ["booze" probably because supposedly after getting drunk you see everything double, so two identical numbers make a "booze number. Hah, hah.] Ironically, I didn't celebrate it with booze.
My grandfather's party was horrendously boring even by his standards. The food was good, the people were friendly, but everything took sooooo long and there were these long awkward phases where NOTHING happened at all. Add the heat (29°C) and humidity to get a rather unpleasant picture. The most interesting thing about the meal was making the table decoration plant sing "Feed me, Seymour" and watching my brother and my boyfriend play Jenga with coasters.
Eru, it was SO boring.
When it was 5 pm and they only just wanted to start tea-time, Jörg and I fled under the excuse of having to be there in time when the people invented for MY party would arrive.
Now, as you may remember, I hadn't planned any party at all. But luckily,
seefuchs,
eliathanis and
kaneda were willing to come over to Solingen spontaneously. We had a nice little barbecue and played Jenga and Munchkin, which was really enjoyable (at least for me). That definitely saved my day. Thank you so much. And now you three know our flat at last!
Well, and the taste of summer wasn't all that bad after all. ;)
They actually do Labour Day demonstrations in Solingen. Weird.
