Hot weather/ Training: SO not my OTP

This is my first summer in armour, and the first two times of practice in the hot season are telling me rather convincingly that I was never meant to run through a dôjô in a long skirt, a padded jacket, a sort of padded layered apron, a breastguard, thick padded gloves and a padded cotton helmet, shouting Japanese obscenities words and beating other people with a bamboo sword. Never. I thought I was dying after three times of kiri-kaeshi.

Also, when the weather is hot and you have to fight your way through training, you cannot help slacking a bit. After the first sets of suburi, you just can't give your best anymore. You stumble, you cheat, and you try to remain low-key.
It is totally not helpful then when Sensei asks you to do some suburi in front of everybody. True, it's sort of a compliment, because it means that my suburi are so good that everyone should see how I do them. But I totally messed up the footwork (thank Eru everybody was watching my arms); and I spent the strength I wanted to reserve for kiri-kaeshi on that demonstration, because if everybody watches you, you better do your best.
Which resulted in the above-mentioned total exhaustion during the kiri-kaeshi, and the total mess I made of my first sparring fight against Hak-seung. The second one against Dominik (!) went surprisingly well, though.
