Random Ranting XXVI
Dec. 14th, 2005 05:32 pmThe presentation yesterday went ok, I think. It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad enough to make Ehmcke-sensei actually say that it was bad, so I suppose I'll be content with that.
On Monday, we celebrated
fuchs' birthday by going to watch The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I enjoyed it very much. After all, I knew what the story was about, so all that "OMG TEH GRATEST FANTASY FILM EVAH SINCE LOTR!" hype aforehand hadn't led me into believing this would be, well, another LOTR. Children's books, Children's movie. We knew that.
And it was very beautifully made. The effects and artwork were, most of the time, flawless (except for one or two scenes). The child actors, although the dubbing was a bit annoying in places, did remarkably well. And Aslan! Aaaaslan. *purrs* Besides, Mr Tumnus was beyond adorable, and Oreius was hot. ...yes.
I just wonder what was up with Jadis' wardrobe. As
zorn said, it looked as though she had fallen into a funnel. Very odd.
But, yeah. A lovely Christmas movie. And I was prepared for themithraic Christian sledge-hammer as well, so that didn't bother me either. (Or maybe that's just because talking to my grandmother for ten minutes is likely more allegorically Christian than the entire Chronicles. Seriously.)
And
fuchs' Iranian meat loaf was very tasty, too. It was just sad that I had to leave so hurriedly afterwards, but there was that evil presentation to finish...
I'm terribly unmotivated and slightly depressed at the moment. The amount of energy necessary for getting me to do anything at all is incredibly high. I hardly get out of bed in the morning. I thought some sleep would cure that, but all it brought is a headache. Meh.
I need more chocolate.
I theoretically have Christmas presents for: Mom, Dad, five of my seven cousins (...well, I have more cousins, but only seven still expect presents from me),
eliathanis,
kaneda,
seefuchs and
ladyelleth (hah!).
I have ideas for: Jörg, Jörg's mom,
rahja,
nefantoiel, my grandmother, my grandfather and Cele.
And I still have to find something for: my brother, at least two of my aunts (better for three of them),
malicedl,
shiverdl,
elfy,
zorn and
leany75.
I'm sure I forgot someone there.
I am currently addicted to Christmas music. I have no idea why. Christmas music and choirs, what's more. I'm probably making everyone in our street nervous by listening to Christmas music. (Pretty much all of our street is Muslimic.)
I had to shorten my hair some. The ends were all split. I hate cutting my hair.
I don't think my hand is supposed to randomly (YES, I SPLIT MY INFINITIVES!) go numb while I'm doing the dishes. Not good.
And yes, the finger still hurts. Mom says it can take up to half a year. Huzzah.
