Cat Withdrawal, 3
Feb. 7th, 2006 05:28 pmI am a deep sleeper. Meaning that once I've fallen asleep it's likely that I won't wake up for the next few hours. I've slept through two earthquakes and various discussions, drunk orgies and the like going on in the same room on school trips. When I sleep, I sleep.
But apparently, cat distress calls are on a pitch that manages to wake me up. Even at 4:30am. And what do I do if a kitten tells me through the window that she hasn't eaten in months and needs some cuddling?
Right. I put on some clothing and let her in and feed her and cuddle.
Unfortunately, she still doesn't dare to stay inside without the window open, which means that it's getting cooooold. Darling cat, you can sleep on my bed if you wish, but I need sleep and I can't leave the window open.
So after half an hour, when she did her obligatory check of whether the way through the window was still clear for the umpteenth time, I had to set the bowl with the food on the outer windowsill and closed the window for good.
*sigh*
... and look, here she cries again!

Date: 2006-02-07 05:32 pm (UTC)Hm, I don't know either. Though if she's as complicated with them as she is with us, they may have no other choice. You just can't leave a door or window open all night; firstly, it's cold, secondly, you'd get robbed...
at any rate, they don't seem to do it every night. She usually shows up in the afternoon by now; the nightly or early-morning visits have become really rare.
