What I forgot to mention yesterday: My hiking shoes are the only shoes really fit for ice and snow (they're warm, they're solid, and they actually have non-skid soles). So I took them along rather than my winter shoes (which aren't really warm and have next to no profile). The poor hiking shoes probably never expected to be dragged into icy Austria back when I bought them in Cape Town.
... then again, they're an American brand, so they were probably made in China or Vietnam. In other words, they have now seen every continent except possibly Australia. Ah, the joys of globalisation, where some bad-taste cartoons in some backwater Danish newspaper manage to incite riots in Northern Africa.

In other news, this morning the kitten slapped my breakfast cream cheese bread out of my hand. Just like that. With a flick of her paw. I caught it before she could (hah). Cocky little beast, though. I love her.

*grins* Ah, but she can't do that if she attacks the food in my hand. Even she doesn't think me stupid enough to actually believe it was not her paw that I saw making a grab for the bread, there...
