Go here for a quick walk through the history of English! It's lovely and neat! Make sure your speakers are on so you get the text excerpts read out to you. Because we all need our computers to quote random Middle English insults at us. (Or Beowulf. Or Shakespeare.)

Oh! That's truly lovely! *^_^* I will have to go back to listen to it more closely and follow all those links...

Note how in "act 5" they mention "Forlond"? Elves all around! Tolkien sure knew what he was writing about. Or was that Maglor Smithson meddling again? ;)

Thank you for sharing!

Und übrigens: ich habe tatsächlich meinen Kostümentwurf für diesen Wettbewerb abgeschickt... mal sehen, was passiert. *g*

Yes you do! :D - No, that's just history being funny. As in, the place managed to keep its name for a veeeery long time ;)

Ich auch! Gespannt bin ich irgendwie schon, obwohl ich mir keine großen Chancen ausrechne...

That's fantastic, thanks for the link! :-D Audio-support for the book I'm currently reading ("The histories of English") which has cemented my reputation as being very, very strange

There's one link around where a linguist has recorded his own prediction how the English Language might sound two hundred years from now. Do you maybe know where I could find it? It was really interesting. *looks hopeful*

I've never heard of that, unfortunately... I'll go searching, though. It does sound interesting!
