... and it wasn't even too bad. A tad boring in places, but luckily I was given a lot of books and my cousin Felipe (son of my father's youngest brother; he got by the name because his mother, my aunt Betty, is from Brazil) got a toy train which helped bide the time ;) And it was mostly harmonious, at least. And there was lots of really good food. So, aside from some awkward moments, annoying questions ("So how long is it going to take until you finish studying?") and boring stretches of time between one binge and another, it was enjoyable.

Sooo. Because everyone is doing this, I'll be shameless and post a list of my loot, too. It's kinda longish because I have an enormous rat's tail of a family, in case anyone hasn't noticed that yet

- a shiny new ansereg Gondorian black-and-silver midi tower to replace the ancient gigantic tower that didn't fit under my desk
- one dinner at the Daitokai in Cologne (^_______________________^)
- Wächter der Nacht by Sergej Lukianenko
- The Colony of Unrequited Dreams by Wayne Johnston (I think it's an emo Newfoundlandish novel, but you can't be sure)
- Rot ist mein Name by Orhan Parmuk
- Die Kölner und ihr Dom by Dieter Breuers
- Movies in 15 Minutes by [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda Jones (eee!)
- An Acceptable Time by Madeleine L'Engle
- Harry Potter et le prisonnier d'Azkaban by ... you know who, really
- A Guide to Old English by Bruce Mitchell and Fred C. Robinson (yes, I actually like to get that kind of stuff for Christmas)
- Whale Rider on DVD
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest on DVD
- a box for printed digital photos (huh?)
- a girly sweatshirt
- a scratching mat, -post and other assorted toys for the kittens
- some money, which is always useful
- various candles and candle holders from my little cousins
- Fröbelsterne from my godchild

- a pretty candle glass and two CDs of heroic music from [livejournal.com profile] zorn
- a box of Halloren chocolates from Meritamun, of the good old Elbenwald fellowship (you can't get Halloren chocolates in Western Germany, and I love them!)
- a drawing of Luna Lovegood from [livejournal.com profile] king_thran
- an exercise book for Old and Middle English from 1931 from [livejournal.com profile] ladyelleth
- a lovely (can you say that, considering the subject matter? >_>) drabble from [livejournal.com profile] dawn_felagund
- a book!Ravenclaw scarf from [livejournal.com profile] leany75 which I'll get in February

Thanks to all you lovely people for your touching, amusing and beautiful gifts and cards and for just generally being there and alive and writing. I hope you had lovely holidays!

Ravenclaw scarves from Leany are true wuvv. I know that. *sage nod*

Also: Lukanyenko is v. interesting and v. different. Am not yet decided on how good exactly (still reading the sequel). Madeleine L'Engle ... I am still gathering the courage to buy all of her books in English to go with my German edition from way back when ...

In other words, I'm glad you had a good time!

That sure sounds like some awesome loot, and I'm glad you were having a mostly good time. :)

Btw, psst. Das Buch war kein Weihnachtsgeschnek, sondern eine etwas verspätetes Nikolausaufmerksamkeit. Das Geschenk kommt dann hoffentlich irgendwann demnächst. ;)

--Oh my God, The Colony of Unrequited Dreams. XDD I haven't read that in years. It's that special brand of historical fiction we have (we fished and it was cold and we were so poor and all we had was fish and tuberculosis because we were so cold and poor because we had so many children and half of them died of tuberculosis because they were cold and poor and only had fish to eat--) about the mostly fictional life and times of Joey Smallwood and his fictional not!girlfriend, Joey being the politician who brought Newfoundland into Canada. It was interesting enough, though I read it before I learned to tell good books from bad so I can't say much on that front.

Lovely gifts, all! Especially the linguistic guides,; they sound amazing. I'm amused that you mention ansereg the very day after I dug up that site again. Mwah.

Late Merry Christmas and early Happy New Year! ♥

I hope you’re having a very nice holiday.
And be happy to know that you have a collector piece, because before this one, I merely did some doodle of HP characters, so you have the first ever pic I made for this fandom.
(((Many hugs and kisses)))
Love, Da King ;-)
