olorielAmong other things, I bought a book on Medieval book illuminations. It's wonderful. And there were two things already that made me giggle with glee:
Firstly, on famous German minstrels,
"Die berühmtesten Namen sind Heinrich von Veldeke, Heinrich von Morungen, Reinmar der Alte, Friedrich von Hausen, Walther von der Vogelweide, Wolfram von Eschenbach, Ulrich von Lichtenstein oder Gottfried von Straßburg, von denen einige vor allem als Verfasser epischer Werke hervorgetreten sind." ("The most famous names are those of Heinrich von Veldeke, Heinrich von Morungen, Reinmar the Old, Friedrich von Hausen, Walther von der Vogelweide, Wolfram von Eschenbach, Ulrich von Lichtenstein or Gottfried von Straßburg, some of whom are especially renowned for authoring epic works." Emphasis mine.)
Secondly, it has - among many, many other lovely things - text on and images from the Grandes Heures de Rohan. Eeeeeeeee!
... yes, I know that this Rohan is in France. So?
In other news, WEEKEND!
... apparently, a few trees in my parents' garden got blown over. Figures they're on vacation in Austria and my poor brotherthing is home alone.
