movie randomness
Jan. 20th, 2007 12:33 pmI haven't been to the cinema for ages. Honestly. I love going to the cinema, and I happily remember the days when I went at least once a week, and now all the good (and bad but entertaining) movies come and go and I don't manage to catch them. Bah.
As a result, I haven't seen movie trailers in ages, either.
Well, I finally decided to check the trailers of movies that are currently in theatres here and that I want to see. (You know, just for the pretty images.)
It was amusing, really.
And I always like sharing my amusement. So...
Blood Diamond. You know, I had a plotbunny like that once. It wanted to be a comic, but as I'm too impatient for that, I started writing it in strange prosish poetry (or poetic prose?). The stone showed up in Brazil, not in Africa, though. The story also included Fëanor coming back from the dead, an Empress of Japan (this was before the birth of Hisahito, you see), and the end of the world. Ah, good times.
The Queen. Listen to the background music in the second half, please. It is James Newton Howard's Restoration suite. The melody is stolen from the Folia, a Portuguese fertility dance (~14th century). I am still pondering the significance of that.
The Fountain. The concept of this was really interesting, I thought, but the trailer looks so damn esoteric that I don't think I can stand watching the movie without cringing. In spite of Hugh Jackman. Alas.
Bonus information: Seeing movies with titles like The Fountain and Curse of the Golden Flower running parallelly (can you even say that?) somehow make me crave Glorfindel/Ecthelion. Strange, that.
... right. Got work to do.
I'll react to the icon meme when I have decided on what icons of mine I actually do like best. >_>
