Work Displacement, the Second
Mar. 30th, 2007 01:48 pmWhee, we haven't had that music même in a long time! And we all know that term paper time is même time. *shifty eyes*
So...
1) On your current playlist, hit shuffle and pick the first 20-40 on the list.
2) Write down a random lyric.
3) Let everyone guess what song (and artist!) the lines come from.
4) Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Miracle of miracles, this time I actually have playlists that contain more than just a CD full of songs. Other than musicals, I mean, where it's kind of pointless to have people guess the artist.
One is the RingStars playlist with the complete songs (minus two ;_;) used for The Unleashed Tales.
The other - and indeed the one I'm currently listening to - is the Silmarillion - RingStars style. Well, the beginning, anyway. It's far, far from finished. And kind of biased.
I'll use it anyway, tee hee, and add a fifth point to the task:
Let people (those that know the fandom, anyway - the others can of course skip this) guess just which part of the Silm this song might apply to. (Remember, it's on shuffle for this, so the order is totally random.)
And if they're really generous, they also might suggest other songs they might feel appropriate for a RingStars style Silmarillion. (For those unfamiliar with the RingStars: Basically, a comedy musical group using modern, more or less well-known songs to put together a LotR musical. A few lines suffice, even if the rest of the song doesn't fit much or at all - after all, not everything is played in full. There's costumes and props and dancing and choreography too, of course, but we can't do that on LJ...)
Wanna play?

Date: 2007-03-30 12:53 pm (UTC)That'd be from the Les Miz musical, and it's "Do You Hear the People Sing?" Oath of Feanor. Totally. Final answer.

Thin Lizzy, "The Boys Are Back in Town." Ehhhh... OK, I don't actually know where this would stand Silm-wise. Kinslayings? It says "battle," even though it's lighthearted.

Date: 2007-03-30 04:02 pm (UTC)1) Runrig - The Greatest Flame. I always thought about that one as the Death of Feanor, if only because of the line 'now we're on our own', but I guess it can be applied to more moments than that. Perhaps simply their arrival in Middle-earth?
2) Tanzwut - Meer. Alqualonde.
3b) Huey Lewis and the News - The Power of Love. I know you mentioned this one before, but I must admit that I forgot.
4) Blackmore's Night - Where Are We Going From Here. That's always been my personal Fall of Gondolin song, but it probably applies to a Wandering Maglor even more.
I also know 10, 11, 12b and 15, but will leave those for others to guess. :)
