Sooo.

As I mentioned a while back, while we were removing the suspended ceiling between the first (Americans: second) floor and the roof, we found a lot of interesting things, including a bird skeleton, the skeleton of some rodent, a mummified rat, a mummified kitten (;_;), some abandoned wasps' nests, old bottles, an inkwell, a damaged gun and ammunition and -

- a box of old photo negatives: some of them on glass.

I scanned or photographed them as well as I could so you can have a look; aren't I nice!

These aren't all, but there were too many redundant ones to have them all.

The house; probably in the 1930s or 40s
Part of the bit that's rented out, plus the barn
Young Man on Horse, plus the Mill down the hill
The Mill today
The door on the left no longer exists; the door on the right looks different now.
One big happy family.
The fields in winter
That's roughly where the raspberry thicket is today.
Tough guy
Cheeeese!
Young Man on Horse, dining room corner
Christmas
The garden back then. Today, part of it is the road, and the rest belongs to our uphill neighbours.
This one was actually on glass. Isn't it amazing?
The house.
And today - note the small changes!
Definitely 30s or 40s.
But I don't want to be photographed!
There are a lot of pics like this. Guy with tree.
These are gals, though.
Cheerful crowd. Yet.
Huge tree
Romanchikku!
More family
On vacation
Holla die Waldfee
This is an odd way to take group pictures.
Summer
Plucking daisies, or something
Guy with tree
Winter horsies
Real women don't need long pants.
Girl with tree
Another collective
Aww, more romance!
*twitch* My, how manly.
I hate Sunday afternoon walks.
Ein Bett im Kornfeld
Family again
Aww.
Would any of you know where this might be?
This is on the seacoast. Duh.
Old man and the sea
Not old man
Actually, we have one of those beach chairs in the barn.
An oliphaunt!
This, at any rate, is Heidelberg.
Bavaria? Austria?
Sea again
The hero on his yaught. Or something.
Sea
Aww.
Battleship
Again, would anyone know this place by chance?
Vengeful Telerin spirits
Train? Mountain.
Do you know this lake?
Or this skyline?
Or this memorial? Anyone from Switzerland?
Or this courtyard?
Heidelberg again

And therrre you go.

Wasn't that interesting! :D

Sry.

Trotzdem, interessante Bilder! :)

Those are absolutely fantastic pics! I love old pictures so much... They are telling their own tales and that just is awesome. That manly picture was quite funny... *grins*

Oh, wie toll, eine Kiste mit sovielen tollen alten Fotos zu finden! Euer Haus ist wirklich toll! (Trotz mumifizierter Ratten und Katzen ... sogar das ist irgendwo interessant.)

Somehow those make me sad in a good way. I can't help thinking there are people out there who 'lost' those pictures and with them a dear link to their past, though. *all emo and stuff*

(Not that I think it's possible to find those people. I don't know it's just some kind of Amélie-ish feeling. *sweatdrop*)

Actually it's even sadder: We bought the house from the ex-wife of a guy who's a descendant of the people in the pictures, and when he came by to pick up his stuff that was still in our barn, we told him about our findings.
He shrugged.
