Picspam I: Ring*Con 2007
Oct. 19th, 2007 09:33 pmSo, here's the most shareable of my Ring*Con photos (plus some photos by
ladyelleth). Long linklist under the cut. Pictures of questionable quality.
You have been flashy-thinged by Míriel.
The choir is idling
This looks like some postmodern stage setup.
Guess what I'm thinking now.
Fireshow at the opening ceremony
No Teleri have been harmed in the making of this picture.
Osgiliath
Haka
Olwë, Cirdan and Maksatan heralding the intellectuals
Olwë + swanship. Like I could resist. (Olwë, just in case you're wondering, is the chairman of the German Tolkien Society. This Olwë is, anyway.)
Intellectuals. Yay Tinu!
Iskandra and Prof. Thomas Honegger. I swear there must be something about the university of Jena that makes its professors look like that. I have an uncle who teaches pharmacy there, and he looks almost the same.
Cirdan + swanship. I couldn't resist that one either.
Squee John Noble!
All the guests
John Noble's panel
The quiz: And the candidate needed three tries to figure that one out.
She was a bit better, but they only won that round because of Jed Brophy's Lederhosen.
Yeah, that's why.
My fandom still slashes itself.
Mark Ferguson: First actor I know who encourages RPS.
There is actually a long story behind these pictures.
It has to do with a charity donation and Craig Parker's absence from this year's con.
No, this is not the reason for his absence.
Our spacious youth hostel room.
I've got a hedgehog and I'm not afraid to use it.
For you cannot resist its powers of cute.
Normal people photograph this because of "Schlitz" (a town called, in translation, "slit", also with dirty connotations; mainly known from the book "The Cloud", and for the author Florian Illies (bah!)). Geeks photograph it because Horas appears on the map of Aventuria (i.e., the world in which the best-known German pen&paper RPG takes place.
Learning Tengwar with Professor Manwë
Line-up at the Sir Gawain practice session. I'm the one with the head. I mean, with the additional green head.
Andy Serkis
Daniel Falconer and the work of a bored concept designer
Smaug
The Costume Contest jury: Evelyn, Jonathan Harding, Thomas Robbins, Jed Brophy, Isaac Singleton. I don't know why nobody is sitting next to poor Evelyn.
Trolls just wanna have fun.
And this Orc just wants a human wife.
Yay for awkward canon flirting!
... ok, I suppose I can sell this as art.
The RingStars doing a profound scene. Evil. I've always had a very sad Faramir-gets-into-armour sequence in my head, so this almost made me cry. (In a good way.) [/embarrassing admissions]

The Becks Experience.
By the Powers...
more of them!
You should see the losers.
Theprecarian proletarian Elf from East-Lórien.
Sunday is the cruellest day.
Halefa and Ulla, the lost and found hair-dryer.
Kiran Shah
And of the Closing Ceremony I took no pictures because I was laden with green heads and water bottles and the sheet music and the prizes I got for the art contest and stuff. Ah well, other people got better cameras anyway.
