A diversion! A diversion!
Oct. 23rd, 2007 08:34 pmFirst off:
Happy Birthday,
juno_magic!
Here, have some birthday art. It's only a quick sketch, but I hope you can recognise who it's supposed to be anyway, even if Esthlos looks way too young and I didn't research Greek clothing. >_>

Second, a même.
Comment on this post. I will choose seven userpics from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are using them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.
Caught this via
leany75; icons that she chose, and my explanations, are under the cut.

This is my most recent icon.
september_icons made it, and it's so new I'm not quite sure about the situations I'm going to use it in. I just couldn't resist the Fëanorian quote. (Well, I suppose I'll use it in situations with kind of overwhelming odds at the point when I'm still determined to win. Or somesuch.)

The picture is from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, a ... strange movie. But the good kind of strange.
grrliz_icons made an entire alphabet with stills from that film, from "A is for Afflicted" to "Z is for Zing". I liked the O (for OTP) and W (...well, this one) best, and of those two, this is my favourite. Simply because the "Words, words, words" quote from Hamlet is awesome. So there.

What can I say. I love Oscar Wilde, and I also love intelligent (and sometimes, non-intelligent) puns.

Again, yay for Oscar Wilde. And after the first three icons (four, including this one) I had to explain all contained quotes or at least allusions to quotes, you will hopefully realise why I chose this icon.
In case you don't: They call it self-mockery.

This originates in the days of my eager participation in
desperatefans. I don't quite remember how we got there, but my comment on the icon says "it's all
coppertone's fault, so I assume it is. Probably we were making crossover jokes about Elves in the Matrix or something. As by that time I had finally learned how to animate icons, I sat down and animated a Matrix-style icon with Tengwar instead of Katakana. I suppose I should have mirrored them - the Tengwar, that is - but I forgot it at the time, and by now I like it better this way...

This is, I think, self-explanatory. Captain Jack Sparrow. With glowing iron. And THAT look. Like YOU're not getting devilish thoughts!

Aaah yes. This is Tilda Swinton a.k.a. Jadis the White Witch having a cup of coffee during some filming break. I have a simple sense of humour and found the combination of evil Jadis in evil Jadis garb with an innocuous little paper cup of coffee amusing, so... yeah. I made myself an icon. And I don't even drink coffee!

And I'm adding to the instructions:
If you as the commenter want to ask me about more of my weird icons, go right ahead.

Was manchmal ganz schön unpraktisch ist. *g*

That's one of the most wonderful presents anyone ever made for me.
