I have been productive!

Motivated by a discussion/ some planning for the next Rohan LARP I finally managed to tune my lyre. It doesn't have as many strings as I'd like - only one octave + two strings - but technically I can now produce tunes in C major/ A minor and F major/ D minor. With a lot of transposing, bah, but still.

Promptly spent two hours playing around. Incredible how addictive musical instruments can be when you no longer have to play them ;) And as I'd already dug out my recorder (I needed something to give me the pitch after all) I played around with that, too. Badly, but it begins to come back to me, so I figure by April I'll be able to play one or two dancing tunes without too many mistakes.

Problem is I now have another project I want to do. Namely: A handbook on historic dances, Middle-earth style. Rohan LARP compatible. The Gondorian Dancing Master, so to say.
Like I don't have enough to do...

Weeded another plot in the garden - it's incredible how fast the stuff I don't want to grow there comes back while the plants I want are so slooow. The mangetouts are already bearing the first pods, though, and the zucchini and pumpkin plants are coming along nicely, and the strawberries are still producing new fruits even though I've been plucking strawberries for weeks now, and the turnips are doing very well too! The onions are rather unhappy because the kittens keep playing among the stalks, there were nasty larvae in the chives, and the potatoes are taking disturbingly long this year. But, on the whole, all on the green side!

And now I am cooking macalla_'s lentil-rice-cakes, except we're out of rice so I used millet. Will see whether the result will be edible.

EDIT: Not just edible, delicious. Henceforth, will always use millet.

So it's going to be Germany : Turkey in the semifinals. Kinslaying. KINSLAYING I SAY.

Heute war ich produktiv!

Motiviert von einer Diskussion bezüglich der Planung fürs nächste Rohan-LARP habe ich es endlich geschafft, meine Leier einigermaßen zu stimmen. Sie hat nicht so viele Saiten, wie mir lieb wäre - nur eine Oktave und zwei Saiten - aber prinzipiell kann ich jetzt jedenfalls in C-Dur/A-Moll bzw. F-Dur/D-Moll rumwüten. Muss dauernd transponieren, bah, aber immerhin.

Prompt habe ich zwei Stunden damit rumgespielt. Unfassbar, wie süchtig Instrumente machen können, wenn man sie nicht mehr spielen muss ;) Und da ich ja ohnehin meine Blockflöte ausgegraben hatte (mangels Stimmgabel musste ich mir ja sonst irgendwie die Töne geben) habe ich dann auch damit rumgebastelt. Grauslig, aber so langsam beginne ich, mich an die Griffe zu erinnern, und bis nächsten April werde ich bestimmt ein oder zwei Tanzstücke relativ fehlerfrei abdudeln können.

Blöderweise hab ich jetzt nur auch gleich ein anderes Projekt am Bein: Ein historisches Tanzhandbuch, aber an Mittelerde angepasst. Rohan-Larp-kompatibel halt. Sozusagen der gondorianische Tanzmeister.
Als hätt ich nicht schon genug...

Hab ein Viertel des Gartens entwildkrautet - unglaublich, wie schnell das Zeug wächst, während die Sachen, die ich gesät haben, ewig zu brauchen scheinen. Aber die Zuckererbsen tragen schon die ersten Schoten, und die Zucchini- und Kürbispflanzen wachsen angemessen, und die Erdbeeren produzieren immer noch Früchte, obwohl ich sie nun schon seit Wochen abernte, und die Rüben machen sich auch gut! Aber die Zwiebeln sind sehr unglücklich, weil die Katzen so gern mit ihren Stängeln spielen, und im Schnittlauch waren ganz garstige Larven, und die Kartoffeln brauchen dieses Jahr erschreckend lang. Aber insgesamt ist alles im grünen Bereich.

Und jetzt mache ich macalla_s Linsen-Reis-Puffer, bloß dass wir keinen Reis mehr da hatten, also habe ich jetzt mal Hirse genommen. Mal schauen, ob man das auch essen kann.

EDIT: Man kann es nicht nur essen, es schmeckt auch echt toll. In Zukunft nehm ich immer Hirse.

-- Wie kann man denn beim Elfmeterschießen DREI MAL daneben hauen? Also dass Elfmeter gehalten werden, das kann ja vorkommen, aber dass DREI MANN nicht mal in die richtige Richtung schießen?

Bin ja gespannt, welchen niveauvollen Kommentar die BLÖD dazu finden wird. Triffniç?

Also Deutschland : Türkei im Halbfinale. Da kommt ja ein netter Bürgerkrieg auf uns zu...

I should so totally get going with my harp again. (But I've been saying this for years...)
And now I want one of these tiny harps again, these lap harps with like twenty or so strings, maybe even less. I'd finally be able to carry round one of the instruments I know how to play. (No wait, that's not true. I play the nose flute after all, and that's fairly easy to carry around in my pocket :p Or it would, if I ever wore anything with pockets.) I could just carry it somewhere and start playing anyway I like.

...unfortunately, this fails not only becasue of my lack of money to buy a tiny harp, but first and foremost because of my lack of practice, *drop*

Ah, but lack of practice is often easier to amend than lack of money ;)
You totally should; and then you should bring it along to the next dancing UT in November, because we all want to dabble in making some music ourselves. :D

My lyre has only ten strings, which is definitely not enough for me. But then I can't actually play the lyre. I grew up learning the piano (take that for "easy to carry around", eh? ;)), and it has spoiled me as far as scope is concerned.
... And of course I always want to play the lead voice, not just background sounds (which is, on the whole, what I think a lyre is about...)

I'm not coming to the next Tanz-UT :( Can't sign up. No munniez.
Also personally I think I'd rather dance than make the music and watch other people dance to it.

I learned the harp first, and later I taught myself to play the piano. Both huge instruments with a large scope ;) I guess that's frustrating about the nose flute - it's hard to get very high or very deep notes out of it that actually make a sound...

And yes, by the way, I got started on harp practice again just yesterday, but... well... I'm writing a blog entry for my German blog at Animexx (http://animexx.onlinewelten.com/weblog/22005) about it right now. Short version: I have a feeling the universe kinda doesn't want me to keep playing the harp...

The music-making was just a filler for the breaks anyway. Some experimenting. We didn't plan on playing the entire UT through! O.o

Sounds like a rather frustrating experience. :( Although I'm still jealous because you have a harp, and can play it. (Admittedly if I had one it'd probably gather dust most of the time, but still!)
