Ye Valar, I am so tired of it!

YES, yes, yes, we all got it, China is an evil communist country that suppresses its people and used the Olympic Games for propaganda purposes. We all got that months ago. You don't have to repeat it a thousand times whenever you show something about the Games on TV - which of course you do, because it's MONEY, even though of course it would be waaaay better if we all boycotted the games in the first place. We got it before the Games even started. I am tired, tired, tired of being told what I have to think.

I don't know about you guys, but my problem is that the more the Collective Voice of Reason (TM) tells me that I have to find something oh so bad, the more my contrary little rebel brain is tempted to like it. OUT OF PURE DEFIANCE (not to mention annoyance). Against all reason.

Especially when the Collective Voice of Reason finds evil even in completely unrelated things. Yes, you got an SMS telling you to enjoy the Closing Ceremony when you entered the stadium. No, that doesn't mean they have secret lists of the cell phone numbers of all visitors. There is such a thing as short-range transmission...

Especially when the Collective Voice of Reason is happy to whine for Tibet, but doesn't give a damn about other suppressed minorities. Nobody seems to give a toss about, say, the Uyghur. Is it because Uyghur moslems are less cuddly than Tibetan Buddhists?

Especially when the Collective Voice of Reason starts being unreasonable. One might think there are more than enough valid examples for how China suppresses people and ignores human rights, no? Instead, they bring small absurd anecdotes. I don't see how people saying "Thank you for your understanding" whenever something isn't to your liking proves the dictatorship point. Behind all bloody German road works that block the way and force you to go at a snail's pace for miles on end there's a sign saying "Thank you for your understanding". Same principle. Are we a dictatorship? I thought we got over that 60 years ago.

Oh well - the next games will be in London, in the beautiful free United Kingdom just across the ~~street~~ Channel. Where, of course, no public place is video-supervised and where no 15-year-old teenagers are dragged home by the police if they're still outside by 9 pm in the summer holidays.
