Thanks to Enlothien, I managed to catch another movie I wanted to see: Inkheart.

The movie is surprisingly awesome, even as a children's book adaptation, and I should write a nice review.

But you know what? I cannot brain this late in the year.

So may I just say OMG DUSTFINGER/FARID=OTP yes/yes?
I mean, holy crap, SO SLASHABLE.

I did get no slash vibes in the book whatsoever - but then in the book Farid is what, 15? and his feelings for Dustfinger are pure hero worship.
In the movie, Farid is 19 or so, seems to come straight (... or not) from the Arabian Nights Wraeththu edition, and where the Farid/Meggie storyline was just vaguely annoying in the book (but then, infatuated teenagers are annoying), now I won't be able to believe in it at all.

Hot damn, now I am really grateful Meggie and Farid don't end up as an item in book 3.

Why the hell are there no decent screenshots around? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MAKE ICONS LIKE THIS?!

I read the first book quite a long time ago, but I haven't read the second and third ones. You recommend them, y/n?

I quite enjoyed the first and the third one (but the third one is cruel, it keeps you hanging on desperately because things have to get better at some point, right?). The second one I found kind of boring, although it wasn't so bad I didn't finish it.
They're a nice enough read :D

Den Film will ich auch unbedingt sehen... ob ich noch ein Kino finde, dass den im Februar noch spielt?

Staubfinger und Farid? Das klingt ja interessant!! Das ist mir im Buch auch entgangen. Ich hab übrigens den letzten Band noch gar nicht gelesen? Lohnt es sich denn? ^^;

Wie gesagt, im Buch war Staubfinger für mich einfach nur Farids großes Idol... für alles andere war Farid einfach zu kindlich (ich glaube, er sollte auch wirklich nur so 15 sein). Im Film wird sein Alter nicht erwähnt, aber der Schauspieler ist eindeutig um die 19, und dadurch kriegt das ganze eben einen sehr slashigen Touch.

Vor allem, weil Rafi Gavron ganz heeeerrlich schmachten kann.

Hm. Ich war schon vom Buch eher enttäuscht.
Ich habe bei Funke immer das Gefühl, dass sie einen Sense of Wonder aufbaut, den sie dann nicht durchzieht.
Ihre Ideen sind oft sehr gut aber irgendwie ... fehlt mir dann das gewisse Etwas. Sie schafft es einfach nicht in mir dieses Gefühl zu wecken, etwas Besonderes mitzuerleben.

Das Problem hatte ich beim zweiten Buch. Da erinnere ich mich nicht mal mehr genau an Einzelheiten, ich weiß nur noch, dass ich es irgendwie unmotiviert gelesen habe.
Ich bin eigentlich auch kein Tintenherz-Fan (also in dem Sinn, wie ich Tolkien-Fan bin), aber das erste Buch fand ich bis auf ein paar Hänger schon gut, und beim dritten hing ich dann nur atemlos hinter dem Buch und konnte es nicht weglegen, weil es doch irgendwann irgendwie mal besser werden musste (für die Helden also). Wobei mich ein, zwei Charaktere fürchterlich genervt haben und ich sie am liebsten erdolcht hätte - aber das ist ja eher ein Zeichen dafür, dass man mitfiebert/-leidet ;)

Der Film hält sich aber gar nicht sklavisch ans Buch, sondern ist wesentlich schneller und schwungvoller (naja, teilweise natürlich auch effektheischerischer) und mitreißender. Irgendwann - auf DVD oder so - würde ich ihn dir schon empfehlen. Vielleicht gefällt er dir dann sogar besser als das Buch!

Hmmm, vielleicht sollte ich mir den Film doch anschauen. Ich habe Band 1 vor vielen Jahren gelesen und fand ihn ganz nett, aber die Kritiken zur Verfilmung in den großen Tageszeitungen fielen eher mau aus...

Was ich wirklich nicht verstehe, denn sowohl als Kinderfilm als auch als Buchverfilmung fand ich ihn ziemlich gelungen. Hält sich nicht ganz eng ans Buch, was ihm aber eher gut tut. Nur ein paar künstlerische Efekte fand ich etwas nervig, aber den Gesamtgenuss hat's nicht gestört.

Definitely. I mean, it's no monumental epic and not the must-see of the century, but it's a nice entertaining fantasy film with some surprisingly good acting.
