In completely unrelated news, I think it may be necessary for me to quote Monty Python's "Holy Hand-grenade" sequence in my term paper.

How the hell do I reference a movie? No, seriously, how? I mean, I can hardly go "Chapman, Graham, John Cleese et al, 1975. Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Python (Monty) Pictures Limited." in the reference list (or (CHAPMAN 1975, 1:17:22) or whatever in the text), can I? But there must be some kind of guideline on how to do this. I mean, people must have quoted movies in scientific papers before. Anyone have an idea?

(Yes, I could leave it out - although seriously I shouldn't - but why should I pass up on the chance of quoting Monty Python in a linguistic term paper?)

Quoting MP for a paper must be the best thing ever. I wish I could've done that... well, maybe someday I will have the opportunity. As for the quoting, I found this (http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/MRC/mla.html), might be of help.

As per the Turabian (not quite but almost THE reference manual on citations, quotations and references in academic writing):

in a NOTE:
[Producer, Director], Monty Python and the Holy Grail. (City, Country: Distributor, Year).

Supposing John Cleese directed and produced, it would then be:

John Cleese, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. (London, England: Monty Python Pictures Limited, 1975).

(I'll send you the book, you may borrow. ;) )

Erm, Hannes Bender (dieser Comedian) hat seine Magisterarbeit über Monty Python geschrieben. ^^

"Die Mittelaltersymbolik in den Filmen Monty Pythons und Terry Gilliams unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des ‚Parzival‘ von Wolfram von Eschenbach“.

Also wird das wohl gehen. Vielleicht hilft dir das hier? http://www.lrz-muenchen.de/~Duenne/Seminararbeit%20Formalia%20Film%20etc.rtf
