And it's raining again. Here go our building plans for the weekend.

On plus side, I finally managed to edit the photos and write the first bits of travel diary for our vacation in Namibia. I'll not do the bilingual thing this time; I have neither the time nor the motivation to write a text of that length twice. So this time the diary part is just in German.
The picspams that go with it are bilingual, though, so those who don't understand German can still look at the pics. And ask if they're particularly interested in anything - I'll explain in English then ;)

I've decided to put the whole thing up at nakatsukuni, which seems like a good spot to collect travel diary stuff (at least that way it's not going to lie fallow for the rest of time or until I go to Japan again). It's also backdated, so you'll have to find it manually. Seems to make more sense than posting stuff with today's (or tomorrow's, or whatever's) date when the content is set in February.

The table for the pics is an experiment and it works on my computer, but I have no idea whether it looks ok in different browsers or different settings. If anything looks horrible, let me know so I can try and fiddle with it a bit...

Also, I've decided I no longer need to feel bad about choosing a "fun" topic for my Magistra thesis. If other people get their design diploma for such a fun project, I may as well have fun with corpus analysis. [Text is in German, but you can just scroll and click on the piccies.]
(Some nasty part of me wonders why the hell you show your design skills by basically copying the designs from the Lindisfarne Gospels etc., but I suppose skillful copying is still better than unskillful invention and crappy calligraphy.
But of course that's probably just jealousy because that guy at least finished his project while I haven't worked on mine for two and a half years.)
I am obviously studying the wrong kind of thing.

Soweit ich weiß ist die 'Akademie' auf der er ist so eine, wo du monatlich nen fetten Betrag bezahlen darfst, um Studieren zu dürfen, sprich, durchaus auch für all jene, die nicht an ne normale Uni/FH gekommen sind. Und ich nehme mal an, diese Akademien lassen dich zum Abschluss so ziemlich alles machen, was du willst.

Soweit gut (nehm ich an), er fliegt und flattert rum und kackt alles voll. Mittlerweile ist er auch nicht mehr so zutraulich. Nur vollständig allein ernähren kann er sich leider immer noch nicht, obwohl ich ihm schon immer liebevoll blattlausbefallene Pflanzenteile zum Üben ins Zimmer packe. (Immerhin erweisen sich so die verdammten Blattläuse mal als nützlich). Mit der Präzision hat er's noch nicht so recht.

Naja, an sich fände ich ein vollständig selbst designtes Buch schon ein durchaus angemessenes Projekt. Aber eben vollständig. Hier sehe ich weder beim Buch (also, was Umschlag und Bildung und so angeht) noch beim Inhalt (also, was das Design und die Umsetzung angeht) einen besonders großen kreativen Eigenanteil (anders als z.B. bei Anke Eißmanns Beowulf-Design (http://anke.edoras-art.de/d_anke_beowulf.html) - das trifft zwar nicht immer meinen Geschmack, aber die Leistung kann ich ja trotzdem anerkennen ;)). Das Ergbnis ist ja trotzdem schön (und wenn Harper Collins das jetzt als offizielles Luxus-Silmarillion rausbringen würde, würde ich es wahrscheinlich auch haben wollen >_>), nur bin ich halt irgendwo so naiv, zu glauben, dass man für ein Diplom doch mehr zeigen müssten sollte, als dass man bereits vorhandene Designs reproduzieren und schön layouten kann. Denn - so blöd der Spruch ist - DAS kann ich auch! ;)

Aber zu einem Teil bin ich halt auch wirklich neidisch, weil ich an meinem ewig nicht gearbeitet habe, dafür nie was kriege (von freundlichen Worten abgesehen, die natürlich auch angenehm sind ;)), und mittlerweile auch viele meiner damaligen Sachen ziemlich misslungen finde und deswegen eigentlich besser von vorn anfangen sollte, als weiterzumachen...
