The Bees' Bane: Now here.
Oct. 19th, 2010 01:41 pmI have, as you may or may not know, two colonies of honeybees. One, which shall be named the blue colony, used to be a lot stronger than the other, which shall be named the red colony; within a really short time, however, the red colony not only caught up with the blue but actually surpassed them. These days, they're more than twice as strong as the blue bunch.
However, both colonies appear to carry roughly the same amount of varroa mites, or so the Gemüllanalyse suggests (I have no idea what it is called in English.
Well, that certainly explains a lot. It is also a fucking pest, if you'll excuse my Middle English. Do I get formic acid at the local pharmacy, or will I have to go to the outskirts of Cologne again...?
