a.k.a. fannish ramblings, feel free to disregard.

I was planning to put together a little overview of what I did during this year's B2MeM. I probably wouldn't have done it, however, so I'm really glad that [livejournal.com profile] aliana1 made a little questionnaire. It's always easier to answer other people's questions.

So here goes...

1. Number of responses you generated (WiPs also count).
57 story responses, 29 of which are WiPs that threaten to grow looooong, and eight sketches for potential artwork. O.ó I honestly hadn't realised it was that much.

2. (You can also count up the number of prompts you answered, etc, but I'm lazy so I'm not going to do that.)
I'll be semi-lazy: Instead of counting all the prompts, I'll just count the numbers I responded to. Which are *dundundun* 30 a.k.a. 96.8% of numbers called ;)

3. Favorite card?
Crossovers 1, the two Maglor in History cards, Silmarillion Fanon and Women of the Silmarillion.

4. Most challenging prompt(s) you answered? Why?
Oof. There were several I found challenging. On Maglor in History, the hardest prompts were the 20th century ones because that's about the century in human history that interests me the least, tbh - and there are a LOT of 20th century prompts on there. (Actually I created the second card because I was dissatisfied by the heavily Anglo/American + 20th century focus of the first. *cough*)
But generally, all the history prompts were hard if they required research, because of the time limits. I also found the Dwarf prompts challenging. That's precisely why I chose the Dwarf card - in a quest for racial justice, so to say, because I've pretty much ignored the poor Dwarves so far - but of course that meant I had to start from scratch rather than having a handy, ready head-canon (or at least a reasonably good book-canon knowledge) to build up on.

5. Number you most wish had been called, but wasn't?
Hm. I was really hoping for B11 and B12, for several prompts. Alas. Oh, and G58 on the Fëanatics! card, because I could've subverted that one with a whole nice rant/essay.

6. You're still going to write it, right?
Obviously.

7. Most fun prompt to write for?
I have to decide for one? Well, I won't.
I enjoyed all the prompts that made me think and struggle, really. Some prompts were really easy to incorporate (like Smells or In a Manner of Speaking or Botany), and those were nice because of course it's nice to get a stamp for little work - but the ones that set the frame and raise the bar are the more satisfying ones, in the end.

8. What surprised you the most? (About your own writing, others' writing, the prompts, the community, anything.)
How many characters or incidences I must have read about but completely forgot. XD
And the fact that I really managed to respond to so many prompts, and more or less kept it all up the whole month, and still making time for the garden etc. (I only flunked out the very last day - B2MeM Burnout...)
Also, as a volunteer, how much goes on behind the scenes. Yes, I should've figured, but I'm obviously a bit dense in that respect. ^^

9. Which of your B2MeM works are you most happy with?
Oof... I can't honestly say. There are several WiPs that might turn out awesome (but also might just die :P), but of course I can't be happy with them until they're a bit closer to completion.

10. Recommend a couple of things other people wrote that you found memorable.
I've stamped and written at the cost of reading - I've hardly read anything other people wrote, so I hope there will be (as [livejournal.com profile] dawn_felagund called it) many bragging-and-reccing posts so I have a chance to keep up and find the treasures I missed.
Of the rare pieces I've read, I still remember [livejournal.com profile] aliana1's The Middle Sector, [livejournal.com profile] dawn_felagund's The Bearer of Light, [livejournal.com profile] hhimring's The Earth, Singing, [livejournal.com profile] ladyelleth's Communication Log of Patient01000001 01110010 01100101 01100100 01101000 01100101 01101100, [livejournal.com profile] ladyelleth's Out of the Dust. In alphabetical order of authors. So those were apparently the most memorable? ;)

Anything else you want to ask your fellow B2MeMers? (Because you can't spell "B2MeMer" without "Meme.")
What feeling is stronger right now - regret or relief?

And now, it's Back-to-Business month. More or less. I hope it'll still leave me a chance to continue a few of those WiPs - and to read other people's responses, because seriously, SO MUCH POTENTIAL!
