In more important news, a huge thank you to all of you who thought of my birthday and spoiled me with images, lj posts, messages, postcards or virtual gifts! I hope I responded to all the posts and will manage to respond to all the messages, but in case I somehow overlook your lovely birthday message, please feel thanked and hugged this way!

I have to admit that I spent the week before my birthday in a sort of state of pre-emptive emo-ness because after the past years, I was certain that nobody would remember my birthday again. And what with me turning 30, too. (A sure sign that you can be 30 without being grown-up, I assume!) I did you a great injustice! Now I also sort of regret that I chose not to plan any real-world, real-place celebration, because maybe more than 4 people would've managed to attend for a change, who knows? Not quite certain whether I'll have a party at some later point, or whether I'll let this OMG SPESHUL anniversary pass and instead prepare to throw a huge party in three years' time. 33's a great number. A Hobbit's coming-of-age party, so to say? Attractive idea!

Anyway. Thank you for proving me wrong! ♥

Happy belated birthday! I'm so sorry I'm way late with my birthday wishes, but last week was crazy with writing and editing towards two deadlines. I'm glad to hear that there are so many people around who are better about being on time.

All the best wishes, anyway: health and happiness, good luck and gorgeous moments. And that one of your dreams may come quite unexpectedly true in this new year of your life.

Aw you. Did people forget your birthday so often? :( it can happen, one year somehow nearly everybody forgot the birthday of one of my best friends, all without being mean or neglectful. But I can understand, my own inlaws forgot mine a few years ago and I moped around all day. A 33 Hobbit party sounds pretty cool, TBH.

EDIT: Btw, since the birthday fail of 2012, you are in my all knowing neverending birthdaycalendar. And confused myself greatly this year, because I wrote in your real name xD

This would've been the third or fourth time running. So it felt like "often", yeah. >_> And I know it can happen; it was just that it happened more than once! That's what triggered the 2012 whining - it wasn't the first time. I do try to be grown-up on occasion, but that was a bit much for my frail self-esteem...

Urrrgh, that really sucks :( I usually profit from the friendslist avalanche. Somebody usually thinks of it and then it snowballs. Also, FB makes it much easier to a) not forget and b) to congratulate. Friends that are neither on LJ or FB have fallen off mine radar regrettably often during the last years. :/

Actualy more "C? Why do I have C's birthday in there, I haven't seen her for like six years... oh, it's THAT C!"

Same here. I mostly get e-mail notifications, of course, but it also helps when somebody else puts up a birthday post as a reminder. Unfortunately, that avalanche just didn't start in the past years! So I actually wondered whether I should put up some sort of subtle "So, on this day before MY 30TH BIRTHDAY DON'T YOU FORGET IT AGAIN, I feel pensive and nostalgic..." LJ post. Then I didn't. Fortunately, it turned out to be unnecessary, anyway. ^^

I suspect that devoted fans have been celebrating Hobbit coming-of-age parties for their 33rd birthdays long before we were born -- possibly even before my parents were born -- so I don't think I hold any sort of rights to the idea!
In other words, you don't need my permission. But you totally have it, of course. :)

Thanks! The puppy is Duncan, who (sadly) lives with my parents and not with me! He's turning 12 this week and slowing down but still such a good boy. Thanks for asking, I love talking about him :)
