I.
I MEAN.
I JUST.

I AM WRITING THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS FOR THE TEMPERED STEEL*, FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE PLOTBUNNY THAT CRAWLED OUT OF ANGBAND. 30 CHAPTERS, 111889 WORDS, 6½ YEARS, IT IS DONE. I DON'T. I CAN'T EVEN. I MEAN. I ACTUALLY FINISHED WRITING A FRICKIN' NOVEL. (TRILOGY.)

HOLD ME, SWEET SUMMER CHILD.

Ahem. Thank you, move on, nothing to see here. I DID IT. AHAHAHAHAHAH.

- - -
* In case anyone who's not already on board seriously wants to know what these occasional bouts of authorial excitement have meant, here's the bloody thing in all its miserable glory. (Also available in Russian BE STILL MY WRITERLY HEART.)
Interest in Tolkien fanfic (First Age) and tolerance for absurdly complicated Quenya names required. Background knowledge of The Silmarillion might be helpful. Mostly unbeta'd except for Part One. Heed the warnings. I'm not responsible for anything. Except that I am.

Danke!

I read your last chapter right away--and then I felt a bit bereft, the way you do when you've got to the end of one of your favourite novels... So I didn't really comment on the contents at the time.
But I do think you chose a good point to stop. And you managed to tie up one part very neatly at the last moment--although Fumella's going to find that no mean challenge for her skills!
I'm glad that Varnacanyo is going to be around, when Findekano and Macalaure are not...

P.S. Oh--and before that I had shared your Non-Angsty Maedhros on Tumblr (with credits) by way of an advertisement that you were about to finish TTS. I hope that's ok. Although Tumblr being Tumblr, I never know whether anyone actually goes and reads anything I rec.

I had to decide between keeping this a trilogy, or starting on a fourth part - and I didn't really know whether I wanted to write about Stuff What Happens Next, let alone at such length. (I have a few follow-up ideas in mind, but they don't necessarily would have worked within the context of the whole story, so I figure they may work better as spin-off or even individual stories.) And it's good to be done, for the time being, even if I sort of miss working on this - it has become a part of my life, so to say!
Yes, Fúmella will have a lot of hard work to do, but nobody said that becoming a master poet should be simple! ;)

Don't worry about not commenting on the contents; you've been such a faithful reviewer all this time!

As for the PS -- that's fine. I'm actually quite proud of this monster (otherwise I wouldn't have linked to it here, either), so I'm comfortable with recs - even on Tumblr ;). I'm also reasonably content with Happy Maedhros, so all is well! Thanks for the rec, whether it leads to new readers or no.
